UNDERWATER MUSEUM OF ART CALL TO ARTISTS
We're pleased to share that the Underwater Museum of Art recently received a mention in the National Geographic Traveler 'Best Trips' issue. Only four spots in the U.S. are on the 28-place list and South Walton received a nod in the nature category. The Dec/Jan 2019 issue is now available on newsstands and online here.
The Artist Call is NOW LIVE for those interested in submitting work for consideration in the 2019 Underwater Museum of Art deployment scheduled for Summer 2019. Click HERE for details and to access to the application. Please note, interested artists must create an account at CaFÉ prior to beginning the application process. The submission deadline is Thursday, January 31 at 11PM CST.
The UMA Florida is the first permanent underwater sculpture garden in the U.S. Located in the Gulf of Mexico, off of South Walton, Florida, the museum lies at a depth of approximately 60 feet and at a distance of .7 miles from the shores of Grayton Beach State Park. The #UMAFL is a collaborative project between the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County and South Walton Artificial Reef Association.
The UMA Florida was installed earlier this year (2018). Initial artists:
