The Visit South Walton (VSW) sales team recently returned home from a very busy February when they attended three major travel shows. They traveled to Boston for the Boston Globe Travel Show, Washington D.C. for the Travel & Adventure Show and New York City for the New York Times Travel Show. In addition to meeting thousands of consumers, the sales team provided travel and trade professionals, meeting planners, travel agents and meetings journalists with the opportunity to see why South Walton is the best beach destination to book their event.


“The mission of the VSW sales team is to promote South Walton as the number one beach destination through advertising, public relations, social media outlets, and other marketing strategies,” said Pamela Watkins, director of sales and special events for Walton County Tourist Development Council (TDC). “Our team utilizes these strategies to maintain and improve the destinations image as a great place to visit and to increase tourism spending in South Walton. They do a terrific job.”


The 2014 Boston Globe Travel Show is one of the largest consumer travel shows in the country. The 9th annual event took place at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, MA, Feb. 7th-9th. With brand sponsorship like SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment, New Hampshire Grand Resorts and, Ocean Properties Omni Mount, the Travel Show regularly draws more than 25,000 dedicated attendees looking to book travel to both exotic and domestic destinations.


Adventure seekers assembled at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for the Washington, D.C., Travel and Adventure Show on Feb. 22nd-23rd to search for their next perfect vacation. Now in its 10th year, the Travel and Adventure Show featured more than 100 exhibitors, representing some of the world's most desirable vacation destinations. Over 24,000 consumers were treated to southern hospitality and given a taste of what South Walton has to offer.


VSW was among more than 500 exhibitors in the 11th annual New York Times Travel Show at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City Feb. 28th-Mar. 2nd. Having the opportunity to exhibit at this event sponsored by TravAlliancemedia and Vacation Agent magazines, provided the VSW team a unique opportunity to introduce South Walton to thousands of attendees from the tri-state and Northeast regions and, increase brand awareness with the media and travel-trade professionals .


“The team put forth a lot of effort, innovation and enthusiasm during the trade shows,” Watkins added. “We take great pride in representing South Walton and were able to reach thousands of consumers in new emerging markets that are interested in learning about our unique beach destination that offers a world-class experience.”
