The Walton Area Chamber of Commerce announces four candidate forums for upcoming municipal elections in Walton County prior to the August 30, 2016, Primary Election. Participating candidates include those running for Walton County School District's Superintendent of Schools, Walton County School Board, Walton County Board of County Commissioners and Walton County Tax Collector. To accommodate all wishing to attend, forums are scheduled in July and August in both North and South Walton county. All sessions are scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The first forum is scheduled for Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at South Walton High School; 645 Greenway Trail, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459, and features candidates running for Walton County School District's Superintendent of Schools and the open seats on the Walton County School Board. Discussion topics include state funding, curriculum and testing, teacher salary, class size and infrastructure.

The second forum is scheduled for Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at South Walton High School; 645 Greenway Trail, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459, and features candidates running for the Walton County Board of County Commissioners and the Walton County Tax Collector. Discussion topics include customary use, economic development, taxes and private property rights.

The third forum is scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Walton High School; 449 Walton Road, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433, and features candidates running for Walton County School District's Superintendent of Schools and the open seats on the Walton County School Board.

The fourth and final forum is schedule for Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Walton High School; 449 Walton Road, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433, and features candidates running for the Walton County Board of County Commissioners and the Walton County Tax Collector.

Registration for theses events is not required. All events are open to the public and free to attend. Those wishing to submit questions for a candidate forum can do so at Walton Area Chamber Candidate Forum Question Submittal Form Survey.
