In an effort to rid the county of surplus items and free up space in county facilities, Walton County will be hosting a fixed price yard sale on Saturday, April 27 at the County Landfill located at Highway 83 North, four miles outside of Defuniak Springs by the State Prison. Prices will be reduced at 10am for any remaining items that are unsold.
The yard sale will include computers, monitors, collectibles, antiques, beach equipment, sporting goods, tools, construction items and much more. Additional information on the specifics of items that will be sold will be available closer to the yard sale date. All sales will be final.
Items that will be sold at the yard sale include items that the County has surplused that are no longer used or needed by the County, as well as items that are collected through the County’s recycling program at the landfill.
In addition to the fixed priced items that will be sold, there will be a silent auction process conducted for all laptops and any other items the County feels should be included. For the silent auction, patrons will place their name, address and phone number, along with their bid for the item in the box adjacent to the item. At the end of the sale for each item, the high bidder will be determined and the winners will be notified by phone. All winners must collect and pay for their items by 4:30pm on Tuesday, April 30 at the County’s Administration building in Defuniak Springs.
This yard sale will mark the first time that the County has had a fixed price sale. In addition to the County’s ongoing public auction program, the yard sale will give the County an additional opportunity to offer their surplus items to the public for purchase.
In addition to the yard sale, the County’s Animal Control Department will have pets on site for adoption. This will give the public the opportunity to adopt animals that need a home as well as get information from Animal Control specialists about the County’s shelter and adoption process.
