If the bad publicity to this point hasn't led them to drop the benefit, I doubt this will do the trick. They obviously believe they're above the fray.

If the bad publicity to this point hasn't led them to drop the benefit, I doubt this will do the trick. They obviously believe they're above the fray.

We were contacted today by a reporter from the NWFlorida Daily news concerning our Public Relations Release concerning Commissioner Comanders letter asking that the county begin deducting the cost of family insurance from her check.

They asked us for a comment concerning Commissioner Cecilia Jones statement to them that she would be removing her husband from the county policy.

They also stated that Commissioner Pridgen had not returned their calls (at 3:30pm) and that Commissioner Jones stated that their report to him of Commissioner Comanders action was the "first I have heard of that". He gave no further comment.

It appears that they are going to run a follow up article on their first report on the "Special Benefit" in the near future.

The WCTA today requested time on the next BCC agenda for a presentation on the issue.

It appears that this story has "legs" and did not just fade away after a few days as many seemed to think. Our hotline continues to receive supporting calls from the citizens of Walton County on our position.

The WCTA will continue its effort to bring "the Sunshine" back to Walton County government.

Good for you. It seems the need to avoid bad publicity is a stronger pull than just doing the right thing.

They could really buck up and pay the county back.

Why pay it back? :dunno: That would be admitting guilt for something that is not illegal. :yikes: You may not agree with what was done or how it was done, but no one has shown where any of it was against the law. If they could say that, someone would have already made it to Tallahassee to file an ethics complaint. Go to a commission meeting and speak your peace and see what the commisioners have to say about it.:bang:

Okaloosa County is where the illegal stuff is, this is a tempest in a teapot.

Yeah we should just ignore it and hope they don't do it again.
