Jan. 1: Special New Year’s Day Brunch: 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Gathering Spot is providing the ideal post-NYE cure-all with a special New Year’s Day Brunch, featuring an array of food stations showcasing traditional Southern dishes. Hand-crafted Bloody Mary’s, mimosas and screwdrivers will also be available to keep the New Year’s festivities going, coupled with live music. Open to the public. Reservations not needed.

Jan. 1: Topsail First Day Hike: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Enjoy the first day of the New Year leisurely exploring the park with a Ranger to learn about the park and its wildlife. Participants attending at 9 a.m. will enjoy a longer 4-mile round trip hike that starts at tram stop #2. Those coming at 2 p.m. will enjoy an easier 1.5-mile stroll that starts at the day-use parking lot. Both trails are relatively flat with roots, rock and dirt. To enjoy the First Day Hike to the fullest, wear weather appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes. Bring a water bottle, hat and sunscreen.

Jan. 1: Polar Bear Plunge: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The South Walton Fire District in conjunction with Shunk Gulley will host the 7th annual Polar Bear Plunge on New Year’s Day at Ed Walline Beach Access.

Registration starts at 11a.m. at Shunk Gulley. $20 to register, all proceeds will provide free CPR Classes in South Walton. For more information, contact Sammy Sanchez at ssanchez@swfd.org.

Jan. 17-20: 30A Songwriters Festival

Jan. 30: 15th Annual Rosemary Beach Girls Getaway

Getaway to Rosemary Beach for a great weekend with the girls. Rosemary Beach Foundation invites ladies to the 15th Annual Rosemary Beach Girls Getaway through Feb. 2. ECTC’s Storyteller Series: 7 p.m.

Gileah is a singer-songwriter and recording artist who has written and released seven albums since her teen years.
