Wine Seminars conducted by John Morris

A lifelong wine enthusiast, Morris has been a wine professional for over eight years. Since joining Wine World, Northwest Florida?s leading fine wine retailer, his passion is wine education without intimidation, taught in a friendly, fun atmosphere. He says, ?remember, it is only a beverage?!

On average, Morris conducts 75 wine related events a year ranging from weekly in-store wine tastings and consumer events to lecturing at Florida State University?s prestigious School of Hospitality, as well as teaching wine classes and hosting various corporate sponsored wine activities, among others. He has authored numerous wine articles for Pensacola Magazine and other local publications, is a professional judge participating in nationally recognized wine competitions such as the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience and Sandestin Wine Festival, where he has served as Director of Wine Competition for the past four years.

He is professionally credentialed as a Certified Specialist of Wine by the Society of Wine Educators and holds certificates or received advanced training from every major wine producing region in the world, including The Bordeaux Wine School, USA; The German Wine Institute; Wines of South Africa; Wine Australia; and The Wine Academy of Spain.

These informative seminars offer take-away knowledge for any level of wine lover. Taught as one night getaways for couples, friends, small groups and singles alike, each offers entertainment, education and unparalleled wine tasting experiences. Enhance your confidence in social and business settings with wine and add a whole new dimension to your dining experience.

Seminars will begin at 7:00 p.m. and last for approximately 2 hours. Seminars will feature 6 to 8 wines in line with the topic. Class size is limited to 15 attendees.

Wine 101
September 2 PCB and September 8 Destin $30
How grape growing and winemaking affect wine styles and flavors, technique of wine tasting, learn and experience the ?Big 6? ? Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Napa Valley Wines
September 15 Destin $30
Taste wines from America?s crown jewel ? Napa Valley, including classics such as Carneros Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and bold Cabernet Sauvignon among others.

Sonoma County Wines
September 22 Destin $30
Out of Napa?s shadow, emerge the surprising wines of Sonoma. Some say Russian River Valley Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well as Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, among other notable Sonoma wines, are at least equal to, if not better than Napa. You be the judge.

Central Coast of California Wines
September 29 Destin $30
Explore California?s Central Coast and its world class wines, such as Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir, popularized by the movie Sideways, along with other specialties like Rhone Rangers and offerings from Paso Robles.
