The entry fee of $1,000 seems very expensive. Why so much? At first it may seem so but if you consider that there will not be more than 10,000 essays and perhaps as few as 3,000 essays and the combined value of the three prizes is well in excess of $1,000,000 (a million dollars) the entry fee is very reasonable.
