Filling the Box With Fish In South Walton Florida
July 12, 2016 by Larry Pentel
It's been busy here at the beach ! The long week of the 4th of July had lots & lots of folks here and fortunately for me, a bunch of 'em are fishers. Red Snappers have been the main target for the past couple weeks but there have been lots of Kings, a few Groupers, scads Of Vermillions, some Amberines and even a few Cobia caught by my anglers.
Red Snapper have closed in state water until weekends in September & October but are still open in federal waters (on a federally permitted boat) for another five days. I'll keep the Fed boat running for the rest of this week for any of my four-hour trips that want to spend the time to run off shore and chase 'em and go back to running the cat boat next week for probably the rest of the year Still LOTS of fish to catch other than Red Snappers and I am looking forward to getting to target something different for while.
Here are some pics from the past couple weeks of some happy anglers, both locals and visitors, and part of their catches (only 21 nails on the board so we usually can't hang 'em all)!
I'll be of to Indian Pass to chase Tarpons and Tripletails in less than a month. I talked with a guide over there a couple days ago and he told me the Tarpons were pretty hot this year...... he had jumped eight and boated two that day!
I still have five days open for Tarpon fishing in August over there.
