Destin Harbor Hosts “Fleets & Eats” Benefit for Emerald Coast Autism Center Nov. 13

November 9, 2014 by SoWal Staff

The first annual Fleets and Eats event benefiting the Emerald Coast Autism Center will take place on Nov. 13 along the Destin Harbor. The event will involve charter boats transporting guests to local restaurants along the harbor for a progressive dinner.

Fleets and Eats will be the first event of its kind on the Gulf Coast. Local restaurants participating include Boshamps Oyster House, Dewey Destin’s, Harbor Docks and the Donut Hole. Sunshine Watersports will transport guests by boat from restaurant to restaurant where at each stop participants will enjoy a signature cocktail and heavy hors d'oeuvres.  Groups of up to 20 can sign up for the following departing times: 5:00 p.m., 5:20 p.m., 5:40 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 6:20 p.m., 6:40 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 7:20 p.m. The night will conclude with an after party including live music, raffle prizes and more.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Emerald Coast Autism Center’s Capital Campaign. In order for the ECAC to continue to help additional families and provide the highest caliber services for their students, they have entered into an agreement with Northwest Florida State College to build a 14,500 square foot standalone center for autism on their Niceville, Florida campus. In order to reach their goal, the Emerald Coast Autism Center has launched a $2.5 million fundraising campaign. A new facility on the NWFSC campus would allow the center to help the maximum number of children with autism that they can and ensure that they would have enough space for the long-term sustainability of the student population.

The Emerald Coast Autism Center Steering Committee is thrilled to bring Fleets and Eats to the Destin area and believes it will be a successful event to support the ECAC capital campaign. The local community and corporate sponsors are to thank for supporting this event. Sponsors include: Boshamps, Legendary Marine & Legendary Boating Club, Morgan Stanley The Kline-Densmore Group, Laura Allyson Interiors, Newman-Dailey Resort Properties, Kiki Risa, White Sands Physical Therapy, Scott Runnels, Sunshine Rentals, Geoff Chick & Associates, and Lily Bell Hope.
