Last Chance to Catch a YOLO Race for the Summer

August 9, 2012 by SoWal Staff

Note: last Thursday's race at WaterColor BoatHouse was postponed due to rain and will be held this Thursday, August 16th at 5:30PM.

You've got a last chance to attend a couple of our favorite summer events here in SoWal. The YOLO board races at WaterColor are a must-see scene. They're on Western Lake at the BoatHouse. The pedestrian bridge over the lake is an outstanding vantage point to see all the action.

And the Mileage Builder races at Sandestin are a blast. They're on the beach by Baytowne Marina on the bay. You can have fun in the water - bring or rent a kayak, or borrow a YOLO board for free, swim, and walk the dock checking out all the awesome boats. Both races are a great environment for kids and very exciting.

The last of four races in each of the series are August 9th at WaterColor and August 11th at Sandestin. Both standup paddleboard race series offer SUP lovers the opportunity to showcase their skills in lighthearted, fun-filled races.

The 5th Annual events include relay-style competition between male and female teams of four in the Recreational division and teams of three in the Next Level division. The energy-packed series includes participants of all skill levels and ages from junior to seniors vying for the coveted “2012 YOLO Board Cup Series” champion title to be awarded August 9th at the last event. Races begin at 5:30pm at the WaterColor BoatHouse on Western Lake.

The 2nd Annual YOLO Board Mileage Builder Series features a series of four endurance-building races from May to the final August 11th race. Each race increased by one mile increments with the last competition a tough four-mile challenge. Overall series winners in each division will be crowned at the event which begins at 8:30am.
