Sinfonia Gulf Coast's milestone 10th season continues with Made in America performance featuring Jamie Bernstein and Julia Bullock at Destiny Worship Center in Miramar Beach on Friday, Jan. 29 at 7:30pm. Jamie Bernstein, daughter of famous American conductor/composer Leonard Bernstein, will return to the Sinfonia stage to narrate Aaron Copland’s "Lincoln Portrait." Soprano Julia Bullock will make her Sinfonia debut.

The 2012 Sinfonia Gulf Coast Prize winner, vocalist Julia Bullock, will take the Sinfonia stage to sing selections by George Gershwin, Josephine Baker and Leonard Bernstein. Bullock was the winner of the 2014 Naumburg International Vocal Competition, is a recipient of the 2015 Leonore Annenberg Arts Fellowship, a 2015 Richard F. Gold Grant from the Shoshana Foundation, and Lincoln Center’s 2015 Martin E. Segal Award. Ms. Bullock was a winner of the 2012 NYC-based Young Concert Artist finals and selected by Maestro Demetrius Fuller as the first Sinfonia Gulf Coast Prize recipient.

Also included in the concert are Copland’s “El Salon Mexico” and “Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo". The performance takes place on Jan. 29 at Destiny Worship Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available now!

Julia Bullock has been hailed as an “impressive, fast-rising soprano… poised for a significant career.” (The New York Times)  Equally at home with opera and concert repertoire, she has captivated audiences with her versatile artistry and commanding stage presence.

Bernstein will also host two morning performances for Okaloosa and Walton County’s third through eighth grade students at Destiny Worship Center. The program, titled “Cowboys, Caballeros and Copland,” explores the music of American composer Aaron Copland, and will be presented in conjunction with the annual “Paint the Music” project, allowing students to visually interpret excerpts of music at the live Sinfonia performance.

Jamie Bernstein is a narrator, writer and broadcaster who has transformed a lifetime of loving music into a career of sharing her knowledge and excitement with others.
