While the powers that be (in control) may have closed greater Jacks a couple weeks ago we have been fortunate to have had a big movement of their hard pulling cousins, Amberines, show up inshore.

Pound for pound I don't think anything pulls harder and they sure are good fried and grilled...... The Flounder bite had started getting really good with the water temps dropping into the mid 60's and then we had a big SE push of warm water, air and surf and that raised the Gulf back into the 70's.

Chef Emeril Lagasse and Visit South Walton present Taste of the Race on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 in Seaside, kicking off the Seaside School Half Marathon & 5K Race weekend! Taste of the Race will be held at the Seaside Lyceum under the big tent from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The VIP reception with Chef Emeril Lagasse will take place from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. 

The Seaside Institute, a center for learning and discovery, presents several workshops at the Seaside Academic Village January through April, 2016. Locals and visitors are invited to participate in workshops instructed by masters in their respective fields such as writing, art, design and health. Registration is open now at the Seaside Institute with limited space for each workshop as well as accommodation/lodging at the Village.

Preparations for the 27th Annual Sandestin Gumbo Festival are underway. The Gumbo Cook-off will take place on President's Day Weekend in The Village of Baytowne Wharf on February 13th from 12-4pm.
