“Handel’s Messiah & More” Holiday Concert at St. Paul Lutheran Nov. 21

The Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale will present portions of Handel’s Messiah along with Messe de Minuit pour Noël (Midnight Mass for Christmas) at a free concert Friday, November 21 at 7:30 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Niceville. The Chorale, soloists, and instrumentalists from the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by NWF State College music professor Lois Henry.

George's Hosts Wine & Swine Dinner Nov 19

On Wednesday, November 19, George’s at Alys Beach will host a Wine & Swine dinner highlighting pork in all its forms. For each of the four courses, Executive Chef Darek Tidwell will collaborate with a different culinary team member to present a seasonal, pork-centric dish. Sommelier Jake Purvis worked with John Ireland, Partner and East Coast Sales Director of Pali Wines, to select pairings for each course.

FWC & Partners Unlock Mysteries of Red Tide in 5-Year Study

Last month, researchers at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) published new findings on Florida’s red tide organism, Karenia brevis, in a special issue of the scientific journal Harmful Algae. This publication is the culmination of an unprecedented collaboration on red tide research in the Gulf of Mexico led by the FWC’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) and funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Jeanne Dailey Named 2014 Van Ness Butler Jr. Hospitality Award Recipient

The Walton County Tourist Development Council (TDC) named Jeanne Dailey as its 2014 Van Ness Butler, Jr. Hospitality Award recipient. Dailey first experienced South Walton as a visitor to Grayton Beach in the early ‘80s. Her time spent there enjoying the pristine beaches, expansive dune system, coastal dune lakes and the quiet serenity along 30A, made a lifelong impression.
