I believe our histories are told by the food we cook and eat. This restaurant tells the story of my history, connecting my life experiences with the food I cook. I spent my childhood traveling and eating with my family from Iceland to Australia as we followed Dad in his career as a Navy pilot.

This restaurant touches on that part of my life, but it focuses more on the great food and people I’ve met along the road as I revisit those traveled in my youth. Here, you’ll taste the crackle of fried okra in Grandma’s skillet and see flashes in the woks of my Thai friends’ grandmothers as we cook through their secret recipes.

So with my grandmothers’ cast iron skillets, and a 99-pound sack of grits, I brought my taste for international cuisines home and began to mix local food – fresh produce from nearby farms and fresh fish from the Gulf of Mexico – and Southern cooking with flavors from around the world.

I hope you find the flavors of my life and cooking to your liking, and keep in mind the great wines that help complement our lives. We’ll be looking for you.

Our most favorite place to eat when we are at Seaside. The best food around.

The very "BEST KEYLIME PIE" ever! When we visit from Texas it is the first stop we make for their pie, it truly is perfect!

Great spot! The best Mojito that I have every consumed! Crab cakes were awesome as well. Service A+!

Three words...Best Grits EVER!!

We love their breakfast. You can choose exactly which items you want. I like that so I'm not tempted to eat something I shouldn't.

Awesome food & atmosphere!! We loved it so much for dinner we went back & tried the breakfast too. Grits are to die for!! Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The Mojitos are very tasty & refreshing.

Best food in Seaside! Love the outside dining view!

I really wanted a cheeseburger Friday night. Long story. Red Bar, Stinky's, and some of my other favorite restaurants don't serve burgers at night. I looked at the Great Southern menu online. They serve upscale food as well as simple things like burgers at night. I like that. BTW the cheeseburger was very good.

Just left Seaside Sunday and my husband and I had absolute blast at happy hour great southern!!! The server was super cool and the drinks great!! Especially the peach Bellini !!! Can't wait to go back for SB 2012!!!

The cheese grits are the best!! I don't even like grits, but these are wonderful!

I didnt think I liked grits until I had the Gouda Grits from Great Southern. Also had one of the best steaks, make that the best steak I have ever had hands down EVER!!!! Wine was great, service was phenomenel. Definitely will be back when we visit at Christmas.

Great Southern has become our go-to place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner when we can't decide what we want. The menu is varied, and the food is enjoyable.

We've visited Great Southern on every visit, most often for breakfast and bloody Mary's. Their food is divine, their service is great. We are hooked on their collard green appetizer dip, I have never heard of such a thing and now we can't get enough. We have always loved their burgers, and every item on the menu that we have tried so far has been fantastic.

Very creative and very yummy!
