The Red Bar

The Red Bar is jumpin’ little restaurant and bar with a reputation for being a local institution that’s not to be missed. Located in the heart on Grayton Beach on Hotz Ave, The Red Bar is the place for fun with friends and family while taking in all of the eclectic decor, listening to great live music and enjoying great food and cocktails.

Destroyed in an early morning fire on February 13, 2019, our beloved Red Bar is back and open for lunch and dinner. See details and photos of the rebuild here. However if you walked through the newly rebuilt restaurant, you could be forgiven for thinking it never went away. Owners Oliver Petit and his brother Phillipe rebuilt the iconic restaurant to look exactly as it did before the fire.

The menu is small but very well executed, always fresh and always fast. Choose from salads, pasta with crawfish and shrimp, panné chicken and mashed potatoes, stuffed eggplant, fish of the day and more.  The restaurant is renowned for its crab cake preparation. The wait at the Red Bar may be a long one, but it’s always worthwhile. Head to the bar and grab a cold draft beer, cocktail, mimosa or top shelf margarita. If the food and beverages don’t get you the music will.

SoWal locals and visitors alike head to the Red Bar to listen to some of the areas best musicians. Playing almost nightly, The Red Bar Jazz Band is as much a part of the Red Bar as their famous Bloody Marys. Local legends Dread Clampitt make it impossible to sit still at Sunday Funday brunch as they fill the room with bluegrass fusion. The party gets cranked up a notch after the dinner crowd thins, creating a more funky atmosphere. In addition to Red Bar music regulars, some of the artists and bands who have played over the years include the Forest Williams Band, Heritage, Sam Bush, Hubba Hubba – you never know who might take the stage at the Red Bar.

Special events are a staple at the Red Bar. Halloween costume bashes, infamous New Year’s Eve parties, Mardis Gras, Independence Day – all of the fun holidays include folks spilling out onto the streets and the beach. Every year on Super Bowl Sunday is the game party and Red Bar Anniversary. The place opened on Super Bowl Sunday in 1995.

Parking has been closed to non-residents in Grayton Beach so you should park in the county parking lot 200 yards north of Scenic 30A on Hwy 283 and take the free shuttle to the Red Bar.

The Red Bar is the most popular indoor destination in Grayton Beach, Florida. A favorite of locals and visitors to the area. It’s the place for the evening’s first cocktail - and quite often the last. Visit https://theredbar.com/ to view menus, read up on musicians and to shop authentic Red Bar gear.
