13th Annual Hurricane Party CVHN Fundraiser at Bud & Alley's Sep 22

September 18, 2017 by SoWal Staff

South Walton’s longest-established and award-winning restaurant, Bud & Alley’s, will host the 13th Annual Hurricane Party on Friday, Sept. 22nd from 6:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting Children’s Volunteer Health Network, Inc. (CVHN).

Entertainment will be provided by Heritage, a local pop/reggae band that has stage presence and energy to raise the roof. Along with amazing views, food, drinks, dancing and fun that Bud and Alley’s is famous for, our SoWal.com-sponsored event will also feature a live and silent auction. Purchase tickets online now or at the door.

“The Hurricane Party goes back to the very beginning of CVHN”, says CVHN Executive Director, Zach Billingsley.

When the Founding Members of CVHN were planning the very first fundraiser for the organization back in 2004, hurricane evacuations threatened the success of the event.  The event organizers personally called the invitation list asking people to come back into town for the Hurricane Party!  The community showed up in a big way raising more than $40,000 and the name stuck! Now in its 13th year, the Hurricane Party benefiting CVHN has become a must-attend event for locals and visitors of the Emerald Coast.

“We are so pleased to be hosting the Hurricane Party benefiting CVHN again this year at Bud & Alley's,” says Dave & Carol Rauschkolb, owners of Bud & Alley’s. “We are drawn to this cause because the heart of this organization is about enriching children's lives.  Providing free, essential health and dental services to uninsured and underinsured children lessens suffering and builds stronger, more productive, and happy children in our area.  Together we can make a tremendous and meaningful difference for these children. Please join us for this important event.”

The evening festivities will build up to a live auction where exclusive trips, private dinners with local chefs and more create a bidding frenzy each year.   All proceeds from the event go to CVHN, which spends 94 cents of every dollar on its programs that help kids in Walton and Okaloosa Counties to sustain the CVHN mission for their three major programs: a 34’ Mobile Dental Clinic that visits local elementary schools and other local charities, a network of volunteer providers and the CVHN Dental Clinic located in Santa Rosa Beach.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with heavy creole hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets are limited and will be $100 in advance and $125 day of the party. Guests will be able to purchase tickets online or by phone beginning August 1st.

ABOUT CHILDREN'S VOLUNTEER HEALTH NETWORK, INC. (CVHN)
Children's Volunteer Health Network, Inc. is a faith-based 501(c)(3) organization, established in 2005 in response to Walton and Okaloosa County's large population of low income families who are unable to access high quality health services due to the unavailability (or inadequacy) of insurance. The mission of CVHN is to improve the health and well-being of children in need. CVHN strives towards this mission by utilizing a network of over 95 local volunteer physicians, dentists and other healthcare providers. CVHN also operates the 'Just for Grins' Mobile Dental Clinic that visits local elementary schools and other non-profits, and the CVHN Dental Clinic in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. All services are free to kids enrolled in school in Walton and Okaloosa Counties who are on the free or reduced lunch programs. CVHN has facilitated more than 75,000 free procedures since inception. More than 17,000 children have been helped resulting in over $5.5 million in free health services provided to our community. CVHN spends 94 cents of every dollar on its programs. The vision of CVHN is for all God’s children to be healthy, happy and see their futures as limitless. Until that day there is more work to be done.
