Dog-Harmony

Nancy Bown is the leader of the pack at Dog-Harmony, a unique South Walton non-profit with a mission to build healthy relationships between dogs and their humans. But Dog-Harmony is so much more than a rescue operation. Nancy is one of only a handful of certified dog trainers in the SoWal area committed to matching the right home with the right dog,

The non-profit takes the hard work and emotional stress out of choosing the right dog by initially having each prospective owner fill out a questionnaire based on the ASPCA "Meet Your Match" program. By discussing lifestyle needs and proposing breeds that are right for each family, Dog-Harmony reduces the return rate. They prioritize dogs currently awaiting homes from local kill shelters or in situations where they need rehousing. Then the training and transition process begins. Once adopted, every dog first spends 2-3 weeks under Nancy's guidance before going home to their new humans.

Dog-Harmony is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that relies on the generous support of our community. Donations go toward their signature programming, including free micro-chipping clinics and bite-prevention seminars at local elementary schools.

In addition to leading Dog-Harmony, Nancy runs the K9 to 5 Doggie Daycare in Santa Rosa Beach and offers Canine Consulting – specializing in obedience and behavioral training. These businesses further fund Dog-Harmony and its many community services.

Dog-Harmony is located in Santa Rosa Beach. For more information, to make a donation, or to get involved, please visit www.dog-harmony.org. Call (850) 376-4190 for more information. Join the cause on Facebook and stay up to date on events and to see which pets are up for adoption.
