I hesitated about posting this because of Kimmi's and PH74's recent loss. However, I felt it was important to share. I hope it doesn't make you sad Kimmi and Ph74!
If Your dog could talk, these are some of the most important things he/she would like to tell you . . .
1 - My life will probably only last 7-14 years. It will hurt me more than you know if I have to be away from you for longer than a day or two.
2 - If you have patience with me and give me time to learn what you would like from me, I can promise you, you will never be disappointed.
3 - Trust me with our life and have faith in our future together. If I don't feel that you honestly believe in me, I will suffer great emotional stress. My sense of self-worth is totally dependent upon your confidence in me.
4 - Don't stay mad at me for long or confine me to a cage to punish me. You have your friends, your job, and your recreation. I HAVE ONLY YOU!
5 - Talk to me about anything you want as frequently as possible. Even if I can't comprehend your precise words, I can understand the meaning of what you're telling me by the tone of you're voice.
6 - Remember no matter how you treat me, I will NEVER forget it.
7 - When you consider raising your hand to hit me, remember I have teeth that could break the bones in your hand, buth I choose not to bite you.
8 - Before you scream at me for failing to respond to your commands as I usually do, take time to think about what might be wrong with me that would cause me to treat you differently. Maybe I haven't been eating right or drinking enough water. Or maybe my age is catching up with me and I just can't do what I used to do.
9 - Take good care of me when I get old. Someday you will be as old as me and you will see how it feels.
10 - Be there for me through good times and bad. Never say you can't handle taking me to the vet for stitches or surgery. Nothing could make me feel worse. Everything in my life is easier for me to deal with when I have you standing by my side. Remember my love for you is unconditional and it will last for your entire life.

I'm sorry my dear. I have to tell you I felt guilty after reading that one also. But, you and I know our little one's love us and they are fine without us for awhile. I just have to believe this!!!!!!

Kdwells....my parents rarely go out of town so Roxy was always taken care of. But when I was home this past Christmas...and I was in the driveway saying bye to my baby, we all fought for her to come to the beach...but you know who- Debbysaurus Rex- threw a freakin fit and thought she needed to stay home. :( MY puppy will be with me everywhere. Roxy would have loved the beach. :wub:

Kdwells....my parents rarely go out of town so Roxy was always taken care of. when are you getting a puppy kimmi? I love to take Lulu with us wherever we go, which kind of limits our travel, but who cares. we have not flown anywhere since we got her almost 5 years ago... we have to drive and she barely fits in the car along with her bed, the kid, us and luggage. we could fly, but where are they gonna put her big self - in cargo? no thanks, can't do it. she would not be happy. so, we let our dog rule our life, so what? we have had someone come and stay with her and spidey at our house while we get out of town for a few days. or I leave them with grandparents. Otherwise, she's right there with us and we have to find a crappy hotel that will allow her! It's all worth it. 😀

True! and I love hamsters, gerbils, white rats. I have had many in my day's. I had two white rats, they were named Edith and Maude, Edith was blind. They were my babies and slept with me and everything. I can hear some of you now....gross!!!!! But they were great pet's!

First, I the list...so true. People tend to forget how understanding a dog is.
Second. I am with you Tootsie. :clap_1: If our girls cannot travel with is, they get a sitter who is paid to love them, read books and eat. Out sitter thinks it is a great job. We have a found good hotels and it is a lot of trouble, but worth the effort. Our daughter had to get a new apt. and would not look at any that would not let her "four-legged" sisters come. They think going to the BIG city is great because they get 4 or 5 long walks a day. I cannot imagine traveling without them...althougth it would be easier and much less stuff.
