Can I just comment how odd it is that a Republican legislature, under a Tea Party governor, has opted to mandate that the state education bureaucracy approve each school district's teacher and administrator evaluation system?

Glenda, I agree with you ( and Hess) 100%. This is not a step towards smaller government but more centralized government. The Republicans in the legislature and the Governor should be ashamed. Their stand seems to be "I am for smaller government if the Democrats are in charge but if we are in charge then we need all the power." Disgusting.
it is the inconsistency and hypocrisy that is the most disgusting, no matter what party they belong to..

Both of them want power and if you want your piece of the pie you will play ball with them. I remember a few years ago Don Brown from DFS was a state representative who opposed something the establishment Republicans wanted and they stripped him of his committee assignments and isolated him. I know of few public servants as conservative as Don Brown and found the entire episode disgusting as well as eye-opening.
