Great pics. They make me want to go to Gatlinburg, I haven't been in 8-9 years. Was it crowded?

it is one of mr audie's fave places to go and drive around the mountains. i like it ok as long as i don't have to go into gatlinburg itself - unless it's to eat !

Good evening. I was wondering what you wenches were up to. I have been sitting on the back porch with hubby. The nights for sitting outside are numbered here in KY. :bang:

Sounds nice. We still have skeeters here--not pleasant outside.

The last time I went was in October, YIKES, it makes Destin traffic look like Mayberry. I wonder if it would be better going during the week and leaving before the weekend?

it takes about 6 hours, depending on the traffic on 75.

Those are beautiful photos, Audie. I've always been scared off of Gatlinburg because it looks so ticky-tacky but maybe that's only the town itself, because that scenery would take your breath away!~ Did you stay in a cabin or a hotel?

do what we do mermy - rent a cabin in the hills and avoid downtown at all costs - ticky tacky is a good way to describe it. i'm not into shopping or anything so we spend most of our time driving in the mountains and the blue ridge parkway.

No Merm, I went once near the holidays and it was actually quite nice. Stayed in a wonderful cabin. First time I had ever stayed in a cabin. It's close by for us in the south and yet another new experience. And the little shopping street was cool too. I'd definitely do it again.

I think that would definitely work for us. I was so taken by your photos last night that I googled Gatlinburg tourist info and my heart sunk! I have no desire to visit Ripley's Believe it or Not or any other tourist traps. :( But that scenery--talk about perfect. I could fall in love with a weekend in those mountains. We'll take your advice. A cabin would be so much funn! (Did yours have a hot tub?)

pretty much all of the cabins have hot tubs on their decks. we have rented from mountain stream cabins, timber tops, and cabins for you and all have been good experiences. i'm like you - ripleys

there is an area called the arts and crafts loop (i think) that have craftspeople making their own wares etc. and you can see how things are made, lots of pottery and stuff like that. it's not too bad and you can find some pretty neat stuff.

Well, I'm sold. This all sounds great. Is there golfing around Gatlinburg?

Now, how is Brown County? I hear people from our area talk about visiting there regularly. What is it like?

And what (where) is French Lick?????
