I was driving by Camp Creek golf course this past Friday and saw a big 'ole gator sunning himself right at the edge of the lake.
Probably about a 6 footer.
Didn't have my camera, unfortunately. This is the biggest one I have seen on 30-A.
Beware of the water hazzards if you play Camp Creek!

...watch out Mr. Kitty! He's playing that course again today! I'd rather be a golf widow than a gator widow!
I saw that gator about a week ago. Sunning himself on the bank with his mouth wide open. Pulled the car over as a golfer was walking along looking for his ball. I said to myself this might be interesting. But the gator spun around a dove into the pond and floated out to the center with just his eyes and spout above the water. Pretty cool.

Maybe he had a mouth full of golf balls.

Growing up, I lived in a house just east of the Camp Creek Lake on the south side of 30A. Every weekday morning for 3 years I waited on that bridge for the school bus. 6-7 months of the year I would see anywhere from 5-20 alligators (20 being the most ever, but often there were as many as 10-15). Having spent a good bit of time on all of 30A's lakes I was always amazed at how many more alligators there were in Camp Creek Lake. In fact it was difficult to fish from the bridge because 3-4 footers would always mess with the bait! I've never seen any huge ones, but I'm certain they are, or at least were there. It always disturbed me to see this man who lived in the Cabins, swimming across the lake in the late afternoons. I'd swim across Eastern Lake (south side) but that's about it.
