Ally Woodard - local girl is an inspiration

...

Ally has been an ambassador for the international Art Miles Project since 2009 when her art teacher, Constance Rogers, asked for a volunteer to speak to the school about the importance of art, personally and in the classroom. Ally was the only third grader to volunteer.

Founders of Art Miles were visiting and were touched by Ally's passion. They asked her to become an ambassador for their organization
Ally and other ambassadors and their parents recently coordinated delivery of 2,000 pairs of hand-painted Art Miles Shoes of Hope, baby formula, food, medical supplies and power generators to survivors of Haiti?s earthquake at an orphanage and school on the isle of La Gonave. She has already begun raising more money to buy and paint shoes for future expeditions.

In addition, Ally collects unclaimed jackets from her school?s lost and found closet, cleans them, and sends them to children who need coats through the Jackets for Julie project.

She also participates in area walks for cancer.

In her spare time, Ally takes acting and voice lessons and will be in her school?s play ?100 Years of Broadway.?

?I also love tennis,? she adds.

Ally traveled to New York to be honored at the EPIC Awards April 7. She was the only child receiving the award and it was the first time it was presented to a young girl. She was selected from across the U.S. to represent the ideals of Barbie, Mattel and The White House Project.
