LBH - you are an inspiration to me! I once never had to worry about being overweight - until I hit 35, and then after having a baby - and then the Italian genes kick right in. and also having a severely broken ankle that is now nothing but arthritic (must have another surgery - trying to put it off for a while). I don't want to exercise - just try to do normal daily activities on this ankle - and therefore I do not exercise. I also have terrible dietary habits that have developed over time. But, after hearing (and seeing) about your own body transformation, it makes me want to give it a try... and I shall! Cork on the Ocean went to yoga with me the other day and we're planning a work out routine together. Gotta get the nutritional diet under control as well.

I don't care about what others think about my appearance at this point. I'm not on a man hunt. But, I do care for me. I need to be healthy and regain my energy, as well as my self-esteem (which suffers as a result of all of the above). So, it is important to me to lose the pounds and get in shape - as you have done. It's not a matter of looking good for the beach. It's a matter of feeling good for me! So, send me your good wishes and any motivational advice you care to share...

(talk about a tangent)

:clap_1: Can we get a "healthy lifestyle" support group going? I, for one, need all the help and motivation I can get!!

Girlfriends, we can inspire each other - I think it's a great idea! Seems like a lot of us have at least one other Sowaller somewhere nearby as well, and that's an added plus.

I am off to a hotel for the weekend - for those of you who don't know, it's part of a really bad separation arrangement for me. :(
I'll have to see about getting online at the hotel later, even if it's that internet access thru the TV.

I'm so sorry to hear that. :( I've been there-done that many years ago, so I have an idea of what you're going through. Sure hope things get resolved for you soon. Whichever way things turn out, remember that all things happen for a reason, and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Good luck to you.....hang in there!

Maybe I was mistaken, but I thought I saw a photo of you and Kurt on another thread :idontno: If that was you, you look great! It didn't look to me like you have a weight problem. But I agree that it's important to remain healthy, exercise, etc. I can feel your pain about weight gain and getting older. Maintaining my weight was never a problem until after I turned 40, and then it seemed like I was taking in calories just looking at food! I might just as well have glued the food to my hips :floor: I've had to struggle to keep from gaining weight ever since then, but it sure feels like an uphill battle and it sure ain't getting any easier!

I've never tried yoga, but it's always intrigued me. Good luck to both you and Cork! :clap_1: It's always great to have a work-out buddy!

the camera lies big time! I'm 5'1 (almost). If I gain a pound its like "whoa!". I've gained a lot more than a pound since pregnancy and beyond... I guess when you get pregnant at 40 (with a crappy ankle) your effort to shed those excess pounds needs to be very very intense - which I never really gave it an effort. After 4 years, I realize I've become completely out of shape and its a real drag. It's my fault, and only I can fix it.

I'm in.

We need to get Abe Drinkin' to be one of our on-line counselors. He's got some great food suggestions. I'd certainly rather spend my time talking to you guys about all this than going to some meeting with a bunch of "strangers"--

You may be right, but again, I'm not talking about "off-duty" hours. If talking to him is part of your job, you have no choice. When I inspect a contractor's jobsite and have to inform him that he's not in compliance, I need for him to know I mean business. I guess you have to be there to understand what I'm talking about.

I thought that is where the failing grade or citation comes into play. :idontno: No playey by the rules, no C.O. He may be still be talking to your breast then, but he will most likely be cussing at them.

I know what you mean - you need to have their attention as you conduct a serious business matter. Dressing professionally is a good thing in any situation, for both male and female.

Ugh, this is so me--I never knew how lucky I was to never have to even think about gaining weight until these very factors came into play. Both of those things wreak havoc on your metabolism. Thank goodness L'il Pea #4 is cute, otherwise I might not like him very much. :floor:

One of my "missions" in life for our daughters is to have them see me comfortable with my body even though it's far from a model's figure. I want them to feel comfortable having their photo taken, wearing bathings suits, etc. regardless of what their bodies are like in the future, especially with all the dieting illnesses these days. So, I get in my bathing suit and hop in the pool or go to the beach and try not to think about what I look like knowing that I'm serving a greater good by not being self-conscious and instead enjoying the moment and enjoying what I look like. And if our kids ever made fun of anyone's looks, they'd get quite the "talking to".

We do emphasize being "fit" but we don't emphasize being "thin".

SJ, you got quite the "talking to" on this board and handled it very graciously! Thanks.

I thought I was the one who got quite the "talking to" because of my initial comments about the photo - I felt like I was getting attacked from all angles!

But, that's the beauty of this board. You pretty much know where you stand.
