Instead of dipping your hand in a communal holy water font, this dispenser has a motion sensor to give you a squirt and avoid swine flu!

Wonder what other innovations we'll see!

ohhh, when i see those holy water vessels and everyone dipping in their fingertips, it's another reason i'm thankful that i'm not Catholic.

My in-laws are devout Catholics and they still drink from the challis during communion. I am always horrified when I witness this (of course I am not welcome to participate) but my MIL always explains that the priest wipes it after each person.

I just can't believe it. This is not on old church in an old urban neighborhood. This is a huge suburban Catholic church.

The Episcopal Church and Anglican Church also pass the Common Chalice. You can be a sippa, a dippa or abstainer, however. I tease my Presbyterian friends as taking shots. My Bapist family members shoot grape juice. I've never gotten sick from the Chalice. I was in more danger teaching 4-6 yr. olds and ran my fingers through my hair one day to find something sticky........snot? I had an excruciating sore throat the next day - stept! It was awful!
