Although I've seen this disputed, this woman is doing the first human-powered circumnavigation of the United States. The part that is disputed is that this is the first time it's been done - apparently other attempts were either not documented or not completed 100%. She kayaks when she can, roller blades pulling her kayak on a trailer when the weather is too rough, and cycles pulling her kayak behind when there's no water. One tough lady - it will take her 18 months to complete this journey.
She started in Seattle last July and has just passed by 30-A in the last couple of days and is probably in the PC area right now recuperating from a cold. You would have noticed a red kayak (with the decks loaded) going by, not too far off-shore.

She was also the first Swedish (?) woman to summit Mt Everest. After her climb was over, she rode her bike back from Nepal to Sweden - a 4000 mile trip.

Fascinating! I guess she passed within a couple of hundred yards from our place and I am sorry to have missed her! What a cool website. Thanks for sharing.
I feel like a lump now, though.
