Landscaping changes? How about spacing the houses further apart? Or requiring concrete construction like Alys Beach?

He does mention the houses being close together, but almost as an aside.

When it comes to fires, it's not developments that scare me, it's trees. Fires burn through forests, and if you live in a development on the edge of one, you have a lot to be worried about.

best solution.....better than setbacks, spacing and a ban on pinestraw.......landscaping with asbestos.....(!)

I'll take the Fire Marshalls recommendations, he does know what he's talking about. Also, pretty difficult to move a built house.
