Assistant Early Childhood Montessori Teacher

Bay Grove Montessori School, located off 331-S in Freeport, Florida, is searching for an assistant teacher to join our small but growing Montessori school. The assistant teacher plays a significant role in maintaining the safety and well-being of the children. The primary duties for this position are to assist the lead teacher in the Children’s House classroom (ages 3-5). The assistant teacher adheres to the philosophy and method established by Maria Montessori and embraced by Bay Grove Montessori School. The ideal candidate is responsible, energetic, organized, and comfortable outdoors with experience with or good knowledge of Montessori education.

Position Details

• Position is ~40 hours/week, between hours of 7:30am to 3:30pm.
• Pay is hourly ($15-16 hour) based on education and experience. School holidays less than 5 days duration are paid holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintaining a healthy, clean, and safe environment for the children in your care.
• Assisting lead teacher in preparing the learning environment for developmental level being served in accordance with Montessori educational method.
• Assisting lead teacher in establishing rules and behavioral expectations.
• Reinforcing and modeling classroom rules and expectations.
• Supervising children in the classroom, extended care, and play yard.
• Other duties as assigned by the Head of School, Director of Operations, or lead teacher.
• Observing and responding to children's needs, emergencies, and conflicts that may occur while they are at the school.
• Lifting a minimum of 45 pounds

Qualifications
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Education
Applicants must possess one of the following:

• An Associates Degree AND 3 or more years experience teaching in a public/private school OR special skills, knowledge, or expertise that qualifies them to provide instruction in early childhood education.
• A Baccalaureate Degree or higher

Certifications & Training

• DCF Staff Credential (or willingness to obtain credential via Fast Track option)
• Infant/Child First-Aid, AED, & Epi-Pen Certified
• Fire Extinguisher Training (provided by Bay Grove)
• Level-2 Background Check (provided by Bay Grove)
• Universal Precautions/Exposure Plan (provided by Bay Grove)
• Blood Bourne Pathogen Training (provided by Bay Grove)
