any of you sowal friends experiencing the bad weather around today ? we are just having rain and wind - we still have at least 6 inches of snow on the ground here, it just doesn't want to go away ....we also have a level 1 travel warning for our area due to standing water on the roadways.

Some good news (if you want to call it that) - The death toll in Alabama has been revised downward to seven total; five in Enterprise, two in Wilcox County.

I saw the video from Enterprise High School this morning;unbelievable. Stacks right up there with anything I have seen at Katrina ground zero. :(

I am a bit concerned about our Midwest and Northeastrn friends. There has been so much snow and now rain, I bet there will be a flood threat as the weather warms up.

The first photo is from yesterday. The other 3 are from today after the wind kicked up. We haven't had a blizzard like this since the winter of '97, the year we had 11 storms and a 500 year flood. At least if we stay inside and off the roads we will be safe, unlike the poor folks in the SE. We also had plenty of warning that this was going to happen.

Wow Krafty, how much snow did you get? It's super windy here today but in the mid forties. The snow is almost all gone and I'm hoping for no more!

Wow, I can't believe your snow is almost gone. We're having white-out conditions right now with terrible winds. I could barely see to drive a few minutes ago.

Since last Sat. we've had 22 inches and today the snow is accompanied by wind with gusts over 50mph. Needless to say we have no school and are staying home and enjoying computer time and bored games. (;-))
(I bet Johnrudy can relate.)

Our front door will be accessible sometime in the future. For the time being we have been singing, "California Dreamin'....."

My dad said that it is somewhat like Spring in SW Georgia, except his grain bins are missing.

Thanks. It's not the first time he has lost some of these big things. They are fairly huge. Back in the 70's, a big twister relocated two of them seven miles down the road, twisted out of recognition. I just heard back from my Dad and he found both of them in the woods behind the field - unusable, of course, but what can you do? Just pick up the pieces and move your mind to what's next. Funny thing is that he's been talking about quiting farming for since 1992. Maybe ...
