Glad he's decided to fight these ridiculus charges. It's too incredible to believe someone would wait a year to file rape charges and in civil court nonetheless. Athlete's should know many women are after their $$$$. See Dirk Nowitzki who had a stripper take him for about 1/2 million. See Kobe who was falsely accused. You'd think their lawyers would have consent contracts pre drawn up for the ladies to sign.
I'm glad he's gonna fight it instead of paying her off, if he's found innocent she needs to be prosecuted and her lawyer disbarred!

I am glad he is fighting it as well. I can't understand why one would wait a year to file these charges & find it unbelievable that she had $300,000 in medical bills during this time. I think the Patriots are behind it! ;-)

Shaken, hope your well and ready for a repeat barring injuries! Apparently she had an affair with a married man and his wife posed as a soldier in emails to her. This fictious affair lasted awhile until the fake soldier was KIA. A news source stated that a friend of McNulty claimed this sent her to seek mental help which lead to the $400K in medical bills. If she were to win this case, which I doubt she can, it would signify that our court systems are truely messed up. But in most legal fights the deepest pockets usually prevail.

I heard the same soldier story last night. I talked to someone who works closely with Steeler organization and the consensus there is that Ben will be exonerated.

I am very excited for Steeler season but not excited about the cooler weather that comes with it. I am hoping to make a visit to Training Camp next month!

there is always two sides to every story. sometimes a woman is afraid to make an accusation because the person who allegedly committed the crime is a celebrity, has deep pockets and lots of fans. for example, big ben is so beloved that i doubt anyone would believe the accuser, if, in fact, the accusations are true. i used to prosecute and of the 4 sexual assault/rape cases i handled, 3 were bogus. the women (and i am a woman) were extremely angry with me because i either refused to go forward and prosecute or reduced the charge i recommended to the grand jury.

i don't dispute that there are many women who go after celebrities in all fields of entertainment for money or just notoriety. but celebrities are also like every day people and are not all saints. there are criminals among them. i still feel there was more to kobe's story, and i thought it was pathetic that he bought off his wife with a huge bauble. if a woman is raped, in general, they are often afraid to come forward because they know their life will be an open book.

i agree that it is very suspicious that the woman in the rothlisberger case did not attempt to have her case prosecuted rather than first file a civil suit. i had one of those cases and found it very disconcerting. the woman wanted money from the hospital where the accused worked so she filed the civil suit first, then came to our office with the charges. i did not agree with what she thought he should be charged with, and that killed our relationship. i was taken off the case and ultimately proven correct when the case ended up being dropped to district court and the guy getting a minimal misdemeanor. the alleged victim wanted a felony conviction so she could get more from the hospital. sad state of affairs, especially because these women just hurt the cases of the women who were actually sexually assaulted.

i would hope after the steve mcnair case, these guys would think twice about what they do, but memories are short.
