Big Weekend Plans?

From a bit of catching up on my reading, I understand that there is a big Italian party at Rosemary, the Mers are pedaling to the 500 track, and SJ is practicing crowd aversion. What is everyone else doing this long weekend?

We are heading out to get a tire patch for my bike tire and a new tire pump. Woo hoo! Also going to try and plant the long suffering tomatoes that are paying the price of my indecision- I can't figure out where to plant them this year. I may end up doing containers.

Headed over to St. Pete Beach today for two nights at the Don CeSar (we had a generous gift card). Been to many a wedding and party at the Don but never stayed! Now that I am thoroughly spoiled by some of the world's most beautiful beaches, I can't wait to see how I feel about even the nicest beach in our neck of the woods. Already I can tell you our beach house is a better value -- you can get 10 times the square footage for roughly the same rate, although we are not Gulf front so that makes a difference. Better beaches and fewer people in SoWal. Too bad it's a 6-hour drive.

I was just taking it easy enjoying the air conditioning and avoiding the 90 degree outside temps, but some friends called at the last minute and invited me to see Spamalot with them. So that's what I am doing this afternoon (and trying to figure out what I can wear downtown that's cool and just hoping it's really "cooler by the lake" today!!!!!)

I am supposed to be planting flowers tomorrow...guess I'll need to get that done early to beat the heat. Having a little family BBQ tomorrow night. Just kicking back and counting the days til our Sowal trip (12 to go before we leave :clap_1: !!!!!)

The Cap'n and I are headed to Ottawa, Canada. Is anyone familiar with Ottawa and have recommendations on great things to do there?

We are having 6 couples to our home for Tennessee bar b que, beans, slaw, potato salad. It's going to be in the 90's and high humidity, so we're planning to pray for those serving our country and to honor those who have died. Then we're going to play dominoes for money. An all American day.
We're also having a banana pudding big enough to take a bath in.

Am grilling hamburgers. Baking crinkle fries. And then am being bad with the Marie Callendar's Turtle pie we bought to eat. Bad Bad! High calories and fat! Caramel, chocolate! Yum Yum! Probably will take some over to my son's apartment for him and his wife. Might go swimming at their apartment pool!

We just got in from Chicago; had to make a quick overnight trip for Mr. Pod's work, and then we made a jaunt to Ikea. Went to see my dad before we came home.
Was supposed to swim and eat at a friend's house tomorrow, but she turned the family cookout into a gullfriends-with-their-kids event, and I'm not dragging Mr. Pod to that, and I'm not leaving him home alone on a holiday; not nice. So, I think we'll just get out the kiddie pool and grill at home!

I cooked a yummy dinner last night, black beans and rice with grilled chicken. Then we had a very enjoyable evening at a pops concert featuring a band from Nashville. Two of the band members, a cellist and a guitarist, played at church this AM and sounded beautiful. Then we drove to ATL to have lunch with our daughter at Houston's. I loved the barbecued ribs, loved the corn side dish, and loved the five-nut brownie that we shared, but OMG, the bill for the three of us was $140. 😱 Glad it was good.

Tomorrow hubby is playing golf, and I'm going to do some reading and cook my daughter's chicken taco recipe that she's devised. She has an exam Tuesday so can't be with us. :( What kind of jerky professor would give an exam the day after a holiday? That is such a no-no! I would never do that to my students.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Day!

No, destindreamin, we haven't tried that. But we eyeballed it over and over again last night. Sure looked yummy! Will try it next time we go shopping. I usually cannot get past the cherry pie or dutch apple pie. That razzleberry pie is probably alot less calories than that turtle pie we bought. Beachrunner, I would love to have your black beans and rice recipe with grilled chicken and your daughter's chicken taco recipe. Chicken is something I could eat seven days a week!

I love pie...ALL pie....any pie. But, that Razzleberry is one good pie!
The turtle pie sounds good too....I make a turtle cheesecake, hmmmmm....maybe I'll make one tomorrow! 😀

Turtle cheesecake sounds yummy also. I will be tempted right now to get that pie out of the freezer and cut a piece right now and I do not need to do that seeing as it is almost 10:00. Making me hungry. Sure would defeat the purpose of walking wouldn't it?

Better than eating it and NOT walking.....at least that's my philosophy! 😀

😀 I agree. There is not much pie I do not like. I love my mom's lemonade pie recipe that makes two pies. A good cold dessert during hot weather as you freeze them both! I like a chocolate peanut butter pie also.
