Every time I see allen Boyd's campaign adds I want to puke. While I have often disagreed with the congressman, I used to respect him. After watching spot after spot distort Southerland and often outright lie about the man and his positions, I can no longer stand to even see him come on TV without :puke: The worst offense is taking Southerland's desire to implement the fairtax and twist it to say that Southerland wants a 23% sales tax with no mention that the plan ELIMINATES the IRS, income tax and FICAS tax among others. Boyd does not have guts enough to run on his record of voting with Obama/Pelosi 96% of the time, so he launches dishonest attacks on his opponent. Boyd has no honor whatsoever. I hope that election night we the people show him what we think about his type of political lies.

Desperate men do desperate things. This time around it's the democrats who are desperate. What's that saying, all is fair and love and politics? 😀

Sadly, I do not think Boyd's ads really distort Southerland's positions all that much more than Southerland's distort Boyd's.
IMO they should both be ashamed of themselves.

And this is different from all the other political ads how???

Here's an idea: look at Boyd's voting record yourself:
GovTrack: Rep. Allen Boyd [D-FL2]'s Voting Record
This is a pretty clear-cut race, actually: Boyd is a bread-and-butter congressman, middle of the road. His reason for existing is to protect agriculture, veteran's programs and defense spending in the Panhandle. His issues are local. He trades votes on other's pet projects to protect those three main areas, like any experienced politician does.
Southerland is an enthusiastic Tea Party firebrand. He wants to bust things up, make an impact, cut government spending, protect gun rights. Basically, if the President is for it, he's against it.
So, if you think that this area has been well served by the federal government, vote Allen Boyd. If you think that we're "under the heavy boot of government", as Southerland says, vote for him.

Yeah, that's the gist of Southerland's ads, like that's all people need to know. 😀
Honestly, Southerland has some good ideas:
Southerland for Congress | About the Issues
....but I am afraid that he will just be sucked into the Rove-ian machine if elected.
They all end up in one machine or the other.

Southerland's not perfect. I hope someone convinces him that raising the retirement age is a viable solution to SS funding. I'd also bet privatization would be something he'd vote for. But I could do without the family values crap. He's a southern republican so, what are you going to do? There wasn't a real libertarian in that race.
Boyd played a pivotal role in reconciliation, he was one of four votes needed to pass that bill. For that, he lost my vote. No exceptions.

Hopefully this election will mean the end of the Rove and the Country Club Republicans running the GOP.

I voted for Allen Boyd, completely forgetting that I hate the bombs and jets flying over. Maybe Southerland will win and we'll get a BRAC. It'll be so nice and quiet without the bombs, jets, and added people that come along with the military bases.

yeah, we don't really need any of this economic development stuff...no jobs for engineers and scientists, and no revenue from all those jet jocks and their attendant ilk...we really have too much government around here.:sarc:

Boyd's way down in the polls. Looks like Southerland's going to win this one.
