campy movie night

Camp movies stand the test of time. They're kitschy, they're earnest, they're of a certian time and place. They are about audience involvement and, most of all, they're fun. What's your favorite campy movie?

Frogs
A wealthy man who has been wantonly destroying wildlife in the Florida Bayou finds that a swarm of murderous frogs is closing in on his own mansion habitat.

Corvette Summer

The movie begins with the shop class at McArthur High School scavenging around an auto junkyard. They are looking for parts in order to build a vehicle this coming year. The focus of the class is 5th-year Senior Kenny Dantley (LUKE SKYWALKER). He's not satisfied with any of the selections until a "Corvette" emblem drops in front of him. The class decides to remodel the Stingray.

Plan 9 From Outer Space
Aliens whose first 8 plans for getting mankind's attention
didn't work, try to re-animate corpses and explode sunlight.

All are classics. I remember reading that Frogs played as a double feature with Godzilla vs the Smog Monster as a way early eco-horror show.:clap_1:

Either of of the Dr. Phibes movies
and Basket Case

Both are mild horror but are deliberately campy. Such funn to watch!

Body Snatchers and The Fog. The originals, not remakes. Scared the pi$$ out of me.

Corvetter Summer- "It's not how fast you go. It's how good you look."

In the chick flick category, I'll nominate "The Cutting Edge". Because how can't you love an over the top romantic comedy about figure skaters?

I liked Invasion of the Body Snatchers too. Although, I might have them confused - so long ago! I can't remember if it was a dog or centaur that had the head of a person on it and the body wiggled when the head turned around. Does anybody remember that? My dog makes that same move!
I also liked Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, also saw when I was a kid, the head rolling down the stairs scared me to death. Same with the people that lived under the stairs (can't remember the name.) After that movie, my brother would not take a bath or shower without the door cracked because we had a vent in the floor in the bathroom. He never told me that until he was an adult! We used to watch really bad scary movies, couldn't get enough of them!

Do you remember the Twilight Zone - the episode when the kid crawled under her bed and fell into the wall - as into the twilight zone. Makes my skin crawl just thinking about it. :creepy:

Mars Attacks! is a [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_comedy"]black comedy[/ame] and [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction"]science fiction[/ame] [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film"]film[/ame] by [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Burton"]Tim Burton[/ame] based on the popular card series [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Attacks"]Mars Attacks[/ame]. It was released in [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996"]1996[/ame] by Warner Bros.
The film combines the storyline and tone of a B-movie (or B-movie spoof) with the budget of a [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockbuster_movie"]blockbuster movie[/ame]. It features an [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ensemble_cast"]ensemble cast[/ame] of major stars including [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Nicholson"]Jack Nicholson[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Close"]Glenn Close[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierce_Brosnan"]Pierce Brosnan[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Don_Baker"]Joe Don Baker[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annette_Bening"]Annette Bening[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_DeVito"]Danny DeVito[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Short"]Martin Short[/ame], Michael J. Every member of the top-billed cast except Bening has their character killed in the movie ? twice, in Nicholson's case.

There was a creepy movie called "The People Under the Stairs". I also loved the first? Halloween movie, the one with the masks that melted on their faces and bugs crawled out.:creepy: Another one that scared me was "Ghost Stories". Does anyone remember that one?

Okay I will admit something. My older sister was babysitting my twin and I when we were about 8. There was a scary movie on tv about someone's hands being chopped off, and the hands were crawling around the floor with a pair of scissors. They crawled under the bed and would grab people. They also crawled up the back of someone and stabbed them with the scissors. TO THIS DAY, I GET IN MY BED AS FAST AS I CAN SO NOTHING WILL GRAB ME!!!!! AND I NEVER, EVER LET MY FEET OR HANDS DANGLE OFF THE SIDE OF THE BED!!!! I am such a wiener and scaredy cat!!!! I don't like scary movies.

If I have to get up in the night, I leap from my bed so that my feed are not close the the underneath of my bed. I would also as a child, not let my feet touch the floor of the school bus. I thought something would rip my toe nails off one by one. Talk about a scaredy cat.
