😀 Thinking about maybe taking a few days and going here. This place is no more than 100 miles from our home! Is anyone on here an outdoor type person into this??? Just wanting opinions!

Looks beautiful! Loved the snow pics. We don't get much snow in Texas, you know! ;-)

😀 Well, we don't either. Had a little last year but it was more ice than anything. You think this would be worth doing a couple of nights? The cabins are nothing fancy but are nice and they do have 140 channel satellite. Since we are apprehensive about leaving our pooch boarded 9 days at his age we may go here next month instead. I have heard you can bring your pooch with you to this place and he could get some good walks there. Not just down the street a little ways and back every morning. But that satisfies him. It is $94 dollars per night but they furnish everything right down to the dishes. Have a nice front porch with rocking chairs and a deck! I have been wanting to go here for a long time.

Sounds like a perfect, relaxing weekend for you two and the pooch! 😀

Looks like a relaxing place. First thing I thought of was toasting marshmallows.
As far as the snow ladies, you CAN get too much of a good thing. In New York some years, I have had snow piled up in my driveway that did't fully melt till April! 😱

I hear ya, Mango, and I'm grateful I live in a mostly warm climate. I'm not so much of a cold weather person, but it is pretty when you rarely see it. I'm sure it gets old for you and Kimmi real quick.

It gets old when you can't get out of your driveway, your back hurts from shoveling, and your wardrobe consists of lots of angora, eskimo coats, hats, gloves, toe warmers, pocket hand warmers, ear muffs and you look like that little buy from a the movie " A Christmas Story"- by the way- a classic fav.

But, when its the holidays and especially Christmas day, its really beautiful, especially when its just covered the ground and it's still all bright white. There's also nothing like walking around New York City in the snow during the holidays and smelling the pretzel and chestnuts baking on the street carts. Rockefeller Center, and the Macy's window display.

But then when the holidays are over, and it's still COLD and snowing in March, you have had enough already! ;-)

sorry guys - audie's a cold weather person ! i loooove the cold, the colder the better. my favorite mornings are when i leave work at 6 am and take that first deep breath that freezes your lungs. i can't wait for winter, but not so much the snow. muddy dog feet, dirty snow, idiots trying to drive like they do when the roads are dry.

:( Well, husband is already talking down the place. Obviously does not like the non fancy furnishings inside. The places looks nice. Sure the couches don't look fancy. So what! Says no telling what has stayed in those cabins. I told him that held true for places you stay at the beach also, he has no idea nor do I what kind of people rent that place we rent. I am sure most are decent but if the man rented to a bunch of people whose character is questionable, well that is a different story. Reminded him I was not sitting home that whole week we are off here at the house!

Our church youth group goes to this place every year in the spring for a retreat! So it's not like I am not aware of the place! I can tell you this place is cleaner than his mom's dump of a home we have to be in every other Saturday. But obviously that is a different story. If I cannot get him to go here I might as well unschedule my vacation week as I will be too mad at him to sit in this house with him all week!

Audie, love your tar. I am with you, I love the cold weather. I enjoy going out in the winter and getting a good breath of fresh cold air. We get very little snow here in a winter. The most I remember was back in 1963 and that was 14 inches. We had that snow in Knoxville as that was where I was then. But Memphis had it also. We might occasionally get around from 4 to 6 inches but most winters we just get an inch or two.

2 years ago at christmas time we had 19 inches that is the most i have ever seen at once. we may get 4-6 inches several times a year, but for the most part our winters aren't too bad.

Our opinion is who cares what the couch looks like as long as the bed is a pillowtop like home or just a comfortable with clean nice sheets. That's the most time we spend in the room/condo anyway is sleeping.

:( It doesn't matter much to me but it apparently doesn't appeal to him. After all, this is a government run State Park. They are not going to provide accommodations that are dumpy! I know someone that has stayed in them and she says they are nice and very clean. But found out anyway they don't allow pets anymore so that takes care of that! What a bummer! Cannot win!
