Closing time?

I very nearly created a new moniker/alias for this post but.... I just gotta get something off my chest. I rarely post, and the Uncle Porkchop name actually has some integrity to it (please believe me, it is deserved). My word is gold.
A certain member of the Arts Community has taken it upon themselves many times to abuse the local service industry community. I, being a member of the local service industry that will absolutely bend over backwards for locals, must take exception to this.
Here's the deal. If a local establishment is very near closing time, and you need a place to "hang out", please understand the situation. The "off season" is upon us. "Last call" may come a couple minutes early at this time of year. Please, for everybody's sake, understand that sometimes we can't cater to your every whim when we are ready to lock the doors. I know you need a place to congregate after your Christmas party. There are many local establishments that are more than happy to accept your business. Unfortunately, not every place of business is set up to remain open till the wee hours of the morning.
I, for one, enjoy the opportunity to serve locals. I love love living here. I don't, however, appreciate certain locals that feel the need to call ahead to find out when we close, just to show up minutes before the lights are on.
I am being ridiculously nice in this post. It's tough, but..... if you want to frequent local businesses and leave a bad impression 100% of time without your name being used in local circles, get a clue.
Take a hint and don't keep your local staff WAAAYYYY past closing time just so you can feel important.

O.K., I'm done with my rant.

p.s. - The person that brought me to post this should be fully aware of what he has done on multiple occasions. If I gotta spill the beans, I will. I if gotta take care of business, I will.

Nice rant, my hubby always says that everyone should have to wait tables for about a year of their life to learn how people in the service industry have a difficult job and would appreciate respect by the customers-sounds like this person needs to wait some tables!

I concur. And a later-in-life OTJ refresher course comes in handy too, just in case life gave ya a case of 'f'gets'. 😀

I don't think he needs to tell where he works, as his advice is sound regardless of establishment. Don't go to some place minutes before closing and think they are going to stay open late for you!
