That is a strong first week game. Much better than demolishing a rent-a-win team.

From a fan's standpoint the big games are more fun. I guess you roll the dice when you play a rival in week one. Of course, a loss in week one is easier to bounce back from in the BCS world. Anyway, I think by gametime most of Miami's starters will be expelled anyway, so FSU is pretty safe...as long as a last second field goal is not needed

Money and Monday Night Football. ESPN is all over it. Evidently it will be broadcast in ESPN's "surround," where all of ESPN's channels will be carrying the game from different views and different commentators. (We prefer to turn down the sound anyway and listen to Gene & PT... )

Most fans of FSU and Miami do NOT care for it being the opener. The good news is that, if you lose that early in the season, it doesn't affect postseason play. In fact, since we are both now in the ACC, it doesn't affect postseason play at all.

This is the last years for Noles/Canes being the Labor Day MNF game...maybe some of the SEC teams would like to vie for that spot. ;-)
