This morning for a couple of hours I have had trouble accessing most websites. The page pulls up but large chunks of graphics and text are missing or garbled. I'll get the page "outline" and a lot of white space. My email is not readable, even though I can see that new things have come in. I've tried resetting my cable modem and it doesn't help. Could it be a problem with my computer? Or is it more likely something to do with my Road Runner service? Ideas anyone? :idontno: (Interestingly, everything on the Sowal message board looks good!)

TFT, this is what my computer whiz husband says (he'd log on and tell you himself but his computer is tied up right now doing something):

Try clearing out your internet cache. I assume you are using internet explorer. Click on Tools on the top of IE, then select Internet Options. A dialog box will come up. Make sure you are on the "general" tab. The second item down is "Temporary Internet Files". Click on the delete files button.

Another thing to try is to go to the start menu, click on All Programs then Accessories then System Tools then Disk Cleanup. Run disk cleanup to delete temporary files on your machine.

Thank you Mermaid and Merman! I'm going to try those things right now. I don't do computer maintenance ... I need to be told what to do!!

TFT...I saw what you mentioned on a thread here...the "duped" thread. It is fine now.

Hmmm. Maybe it has something to do with my service then. :bicycle: I tried the cleanup methods but it didn't help (though they are good things to know!). I'll wait a little while longer, and if it doesn't fix itself, I'll just ... uh, go on vacation. :idontno:

with our computers at work - my sequence of repair goes like this :

kick the hard drive, shut it off, kick the hard drive, call for help .....

and continue kicking.

Sometimes with my computer at work, I shut down and restart just because it needs it sometimes.

Before XP I had to do that several times a day. It still helps every now and then.

Ditto. Add to that now, I've discovered that if I periodically do likewise to my (TimeWarner provided) cable modem, throughput improves - sometime dramatically. Appears the modem collects digital lint over time ;-) just like WinBloz...

It helps if you curse too.
