I hope Obama is listening and that all of us who care strongly about our environment, will start/continue to speak up regarding Congress' assault on our natural resources. There is a lot of public support for protecting the environment but we may not be "yelling" loudly enough.
Former Secretary, Bruce Babbit, speaking at the National Press Club:
“It is now more than ten years since I left public office. I am returning to the public stage today because I believe that this Congress, in its assaults on our environment, has embarked on the most radical course in our history. Congress, led by the House of Representatives, has declared war on our land, water and natural resources.”
Babbit went on to say that he was there “to remind the president that he has the power, the responsibility and the public support to stand up to those who would destroy our natural and cultural heritage.”

The best thing to do is follow environmental groups on Facebook. They post action alerts so you can contact all the politicians whenever there is a vote or debate on an important issue.
Politicians pay attention to 2 things: money and the number of constituent messages an issue generates.
