Charlie Crist?s perma-tanned face bears none of the strain you would expect from the archetype of the embattled Republican. Politicians are supposed to keep up appearances, but Crist is especially convincing, one of the more earnest politicians you will see, whether or not he means it.

Marco Rubio at his headquarters in Coral Gables, Fla. Mike Huckabee says he may be the face of the future of the Republican party.
?Are you kidding? It would be an honor,? the governor of Florida tells a guy wearing a kilt who had asked for a photo.
?Thank you for coming to Pensacola, Governor,? a woman says.
?Call me Charlie,? he insists. ?Please! Just call me Charlie. It would be an honor.?
Many things are an honor to Crist ? if they are not a ?pleasure? or a ?privilege.? On a chilly-for-Florida Thursday night in early December, Crist was addressing the annual Lincoln Day Dinner for the local Republican Party in the northwestern outpost of Escambia County in the Florida Panhandle ? nearly as close to Cincinnati as it is to Miami.
?God bless you here in the Panhandle, for your values,? Crist tells the crowd.
Crist, who is 53, is a compact and sunbaked raisin of a man with a shock of white hair, a beak nose and dark Mediterranean eyes. His grandfather, a Greek immigrant, shined shoes for $5 a day in Altoona, Pa., after leaving Cyprus at age 14; his father, a family doctor, shortened the last name from Christodoulos and settled in St. Petersburg when Charlie was 4. If the Crist family owned a Greek diner, Charlie would be the ma?tre d? who delivers you to your favorite table, asks about your mother and tells you to not miss the rice pudding.
The people of the Panhandle are ?the greatest people I have ever met,? he says. He likes people, no doubt ? ?the people?s governor? is always reminding ?people? how driven he is to help ?the people? of Florida, in accordance with the ?will of the people? who gave him ?the pleasure, the privilege and the honor? to be their governor so he can ?help the people.? As recently as last spring, Crist?s standing in Florida and with Republicans nationally was as golden as his skin. But these days not all of the people are happy with Charlie Crist. And a lot of them are in his party.
To many Republicans, the governor?s biggest sin was his support for the Obama administration?s $787 billion economic-stimulus package. That?s what comes up the most, although a fair number of conservatives also blame Crist for his seemingly decisive endorsement of John McCain three days before the Florida primary in the 2008 presidential campaign, effectively handing the state to an eventual nominee for whom many conservatives had little use. They see Crist?s career as pockmarked with instances of consensus-seeking, deal-making and bipartisanship ? three particularly vulgar notions to a simmering Tea Party movement on the right. Conservatives have tagged Crist as being part of that pariah breed of Republican today: a ?moderate.? Or worse.

Kendrick Meek
As a Florida State Senator, Kendrick launched an initiative to reduce class sizes in Florida's overcrowded public schools. Florida voters passed the initiative in 2002, and in Congress, Kendrick has supported legislation to ensure that funds are available to make smaller class sizes a reality.
A key player of our current fiscal woes. Now I know who not to vote for.

If he had remained a "bachelor" and not involved multiple spouses and now children I couldn't care less. That and the fact that he has been consistently anti gay. You can self hate in private all day long, but once you start doing it with government authority you deserve your comeuppance.
The simple solution would be to remove government from the decision then, so citizens needn't worry about politicians views on the subject.
I had an interesting discussion recently with someone, an ardent promoter of extending health and tax benefits at the federal level to gay couples, who felt the federal government should recognize gay marraige. My argument was the exact opposite but with the same end goal - equality - federal and state governments should not recognize gay marriage, nor should they recognize any other form of marriage. Unfortunately my reasoning was lost somewhere in the discussion. Now they think I hate gays.
What can you do. I sense that maybe Charlie is being forced into a corner, and he's just a little too dimwitted to figure out that there's a real solution he could be promoting that doesn't involve him chosing sides.Edited

I don't care who someone's spouse/partner is, as long as they are of legal age, faithful, not employed by lobbyists, or an employee of whomever they are screwing.
Don't think either party or orientation can claim the moral high ground with that criteria.

It is really great to know you are so sacrosanct, SWGB. BTW, I didn't know I flaunt my hetrosexuality but I am far from being ashamed of it anymore than you are of your homosexuality.
I do apologize for the first sentence, that was the snark and it was inappropriate.
I guess it drives me nuts that Charlie is anti-gay marriage and then turns around and makes an absolute mockery of the it by marrying a woman and being a gay man. The hypocrisy is off the charts with him.

The tide has turned... From The Hill
Marco Rubio has surged to his first lead in Florida's Republican Senate primary. A new Quinnipiac poll shows the former state House speaker leading Gov. Charlie Crist (R) 47-44 in a race that has shifted dramatically in Rubio's favor in recent months.Crist led the race by 29 points in August and 15 points in October.
Rubio also leads Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-Fla.) 44-35 in the general election, while Crist leads Meek 48-36.

The Scott Rothstein scandal sealed Crist's demise. If a documentary outing him is coming in May that is even worse. Rubio will win by 20 points in the primary and then crush Meek in the general election. He's a good looking Latino who speaks eloquently and has a small government, pro-business, pro-military message that is resounding with the American people via the Tea Party movement. The idea that Tea baggers are radical right wing haters is wrong and while the media was successful in making people feel guilty for not supporting Obama, they cannot fool them again on the Tea Party movement. If anything, it is the silent majority that has been previously unengaged but sees America as they know it slipping away. Cook political report is now giving 50-50 odds that the Repubs will take over the house and is giving a chance, albeit small that the Senate could switch hands as well. They do state this is true in the current political environment and acknowlegde that the elections are months away and things can change.

Funny how 8 years can change ones opinion. I very distinctly remember that most of these same folks would have tarred and feathered anyone who didn't support Bush and used the war as a reason that we should all follow like blind sheep. Now they and many others have turned the tide, flipped their flags they wrap themselves in, and preach that suddenly dissent is the ultimate patriotic display short of dieing for ones country.
So please, enlighten us, which is it?

The country rallied around GWB for all of about a year, while the media was very critical of the war in Iraq from the beginning. The Democrats were afraid oppose the war even though they wanted to due to the political nature of the vote. 8 years later, they are no longer afraid of the public backlash that being "soft on terror" would create. Now the proof is in the pudding that the would-be Christmas bomber is treated like an ordinary criminal and did not get proper interrogation as a terrorist should receive. The Congressional hearing yesterday was a riot. I could not stop laughing at the incompetence, unfortunately on a day to soon we will be crying at the incompetence. GWB kept us safe on our home soil, BHO has given us the Fort Hood massacre, the Christmas bomber, and now we are all waiting for the next disaster. Do you feel safer now than 1 yr ago? Do you like being put through a body scanner that shows a random TSA employee your kibbles 'n bits?
I love the ABC morning interview yesterday where BHO says he'd rather be a good one-term president over a mediocre two-term president. He forgot the third option, a mediocre one-termer.

"Eight months into Bush's first term as president, the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks occurred. In response, Bush announced a global War on Terrorism, ordered an invasion of Afghanistan that same year and an invasion of Iraq in 2003."
And before underwear, there were shoes...........3 months after the greatest attack ever on American soil 11 months into GWB's presidency.
On December 22, 2001 passengers on Flight 63 complained of a smoke smell in the cabin shortly after a meal service. One flight attendant, Hermis Moutardier, thinking she smelled a burnt match, walked the aisles of the plane, trying to assess the source. A passenger pointed to Reid, who was sitting alone near a window and attempting to light a match. Moutardier warned him that smoking was not allowed on the airplane; Reid promised to stop.
A few minutes later, Moutardier found Reid leaned over in his seat; her attempts to get his attention failed. After asking "What are you doing?" Reid grabbed at her, revealing one shoe in his lap, a fuse which led into the shoe, and a lit match. She tried grabbing Reid twice, but he pushed her to the floor each time, and she yelled for help, and then ran to get water. When another flight attendant, Cristina Jones, arrived to try to subdue him, he fought her and bit her thumb and Moutardier threw water in his face. The 6 foot 4 inch (193 cm), 200+ pound Reid was eventually subdued by passengers on the airliner, using plastic handcuffs, seatbelt extensions, and headphone cords. A doctor administered valium found in the flight kit of the aircraft.[12] The flight was diverted to Boston's Logan International Airport.[1] ] The device apparently did not explode due to the one day delay of his flight. The shoes had to be worn for a day more, and Reid's perspiration caused the fuse to be too damp to ignite properly.[13]"
and then there was the actual start of the recession and the STIMULUS
"In December 2007, the United States entered its longest post-World War II recession.[13] This prompted the Bush Administration to take more direct control of the economy, enacting multiple economic programs intended to preserve the country's financial system."
I know how all of this happened, because I was there with the rest of the world watching it. And, I know who's watch it happened under, but if you google this stuff you will find a ton of politicians and media money head vampires trying to rewrite history. They say it didn't happen? Has it gotten to the point in America that if you just beat someone on the head enough with a lie they will accept it?
I'm disappointed in many of Obama's decisions. McCain lost me when he picked his vp and let someone try to mold him to something he was not. I liked who he was and think he would have been much more progressive on many fronts. Especially immigration, wonder how FOX would have spun that

Rudy Giuliani claimed Friday that were “no domestic attacks” during George W. Bush’s presidency.
Giuliani, who was the mayor of New York during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and later ran a presidential campaign centered around his widely praised response to the crisis, made the statement while criticizing President Barack Obama during an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
“What [Obama] should be doing is following the right things that Bush did,” Giuliani said. “One of the right things he did was treat this as a war on terror.”
“We had no domestic attacks under Bush. We’ve had one under Obama,” he said, forgetting not only Sept. 11 but also the anthrax mailings to congressional offices and media outlets.
Giuliani did, however, praise Obama’s speech on Thursday, in which the president accepted responsibility for the systemic failures that led to the attempted bombing on a Christmas Day flight to Detroit.
“I'm very hopeful that President Obama turned a corner yesterday,” Giuliani said. “He first used the words, thank goodness, war on terror.”

What kills me is that liberals defend a failing liberal President by comparing him with a failed liberal President. What really kills me is conservatives defending a failed liberal President just because he called himself a Republican.
America will continued to be screwed up until people begin to judge politicians by their actions instead of labels and press releases.

It is a call for everybody to put the Koolaid down, not any type of defense for any president. This is about brainwashing people into believing a lie and that should not be allowed to stand. The response was well within reason of the opening statement and those were his actions during his two terms and No where in my post did I mention Republican, or Dem, did I?

Obama has a polyanna attitude towards those who want to kill us and Bush was willing to gut the Constitution to fight those who want to kill us. Both destroy the national fabric.
