“We’re not going to be disrespected,” conservative Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., [told the Washington Examiner]. “We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.”

“We have elected an ungovernable collection of snake-handlers, Bible-bangers, ignorami, bagmen and outright frauds, a collection so ungovernable it insists the nation be ungovernable, too.” _ Charles P. Pierce, Esquire.com

"If you're being disrespected, it's because of that attitude that you've got that you deserve to get something for doing your job! Everybody here just does their job, right? If you're working here and in the middle of the day, you just stopped and said, 'You know what? I want to get something, but I don't know exactly what I'm going get, but -- I'm just going to stop working until I get something. I'm going to shut down the whole plant until I get something.'
"You'd get fired!"

I think it's a fair analogy, because unions have a specific set of demands. Imagine if unions said they were going to stop working for an indefinite time period until they are happy with the situation. Imagine if they said they have no idea what they want, "just give us something" and left it open ended. Clearly Mr. Stutzman is saying they are just being beligerent and trying to create chaos and nothing more. If he had at least the presence of mind to to come up with some terms of the bargain, it would have been a different story.. It reminds me of when Rick Perry couldn't think of the third agency that he wanted to eliminate. Remember "oops"?

i agree, this is unfocused stupidity....it's what the baggers do because they know they are badly outnumbered.

“This is about the happiest I’ve seen members in a long time because we’ve seen we’re starting to win this dialogue on a national level.”

"No, I don't think they should get their back pay, frankly, I really don't. I'm sick and tired of a massive, bloated federal bureaucracy living on our backs, and taking money out of us, a lot more money than most of us earn in the private sector, then getting a furlough, and then getting their money back at the end of it. Sorry, I'm not for that. I want to punish these people. Sorry to say that, but that's what I want to do."

Fox's Stuart Varney on the plight of federal workers, 10/02/2013.

"I'm getting screwed. Here I am, a private citizen, paying an inordinate amount of money in tax. I've got a slow economy because it's all government, all the time. And these people are living on our backs, regulating us, telling us what to do, taxing us, taking our money, and living large. This is my chance to say "hey, I'm fed up with this and I don't miss you when you're on furlough." Sorry if that's a harsh tone, but that's the way I feel."

Fox's Stuart Varney on the plight of federal workers, 10/02/2013.

"I need my paycheck. That's the bottom line, I understand that there may be some other members who are deferring their paychecks, and I think that's admirable. I'm not in that position."

Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC) told ABC affiliate WTVD after voting to end the paychecks of hundreds of thousands of workers.
