Doggone Almost.....

Today was to be the perfect day. All our home improvement wrapped up over the weekend. I planned to clean and hang with my fellow SoWal buds on GB.

About 2p.m. Bailey and Guinness expressed a desire to play in the yard. I was good with this. The finish line was in sight. Perfect timing for a romp in the yard and an early dinner was all in the plan.

Then, the plan went way south. Bailey came in. No Guinness. I checked the pool, the rest of the yard. No Guinness. Then I discovered the gate to the fence wide OPEN!

Long story, happy ending! After several hours of searching a Great Samaritian, stopped, heard my plight, saw Guinness on his way back home. He's found. He's OK and I am forever grateful for the nice young man that was kind enough to let me know. Guinness would not get in his truck, so he was sweet enough to tell me to take his leash and just wait.

I am so sorry I never made it to GB, but I'm so gald he's home!!!!!

I admit it. I was a freakin' basket case! After several hours, my legs were wobbly and the tummy was not feeling the love.

I hope with all my heart I can repay this nice guy, someway, somehow!

I bet you were a basket case!! My director of nurses had a similar story this morning. (Same one with schnauzers). She also has a standard poodle and a lab pup--she's gonna make those labridoodles...anyhoo, she was up in Oklahoma this weekend and the lab and the poodle decided to have an adventure. She said she got her gun and her cell phone and walked 4 miles around Lake Texoma looking for them--crying all the way. Her story ended well too--her 90 year old dad found them across the lake from where she was looking at "some rich doctor's house" who also had labs. They found new friends!

I didn't ask Guinness if he had made new friends. I was too busy scooping him up and getting inside to ask.

I am gald your friend had a happy ending. I cannot, yes I can, how desperate she was. ;-)

My heart has skipped twice now. I cannot even imagine what those three hours were like for you. Happy endings, indeed. Sleep well, I know a doggie who will. ;-)

GTTBM, so glad you found your pup. That happens here occasionally when one of the kids leaves the gate open. It is the worst feeling in the world.

That is the most unnerving thing, when a pet gets out of the fence! Mine used to do it all of the time. I a glad to hear Guinness is back home.

glad that gone dog was found!!!:clap_1: missed you at the beach!!! we got to meet mango and MANgo!!! they are as adorable as I had expected. ms kitty went kayaking with the sharks and thankfully did not fall in (the gulf was very calm and clear when mermaid took one kayak and kitty took the other - they weren't very far out when a guy came down the beach to let us all know that 2 large sharks had been spotted in the last few minutes - we waved them in...). to the lake with the kayaks where the sharks aren't.

we also visited with ibd, cj, & hop. what a beautiful day.

Glad you found the puppy. How scary. Wish we could have met you yesterday.
You missed the kitty kayaking in when she found out about the sharks sightings. " I think I may have made an Olympic record" !
It was even funnier watching her with her green hat with a SoWal sticker on it and bright yellow life jacket.

I am so glad that this is over. The same thing happened to my moms yorkie in Seacrest. I swear it took a year off her life, (she is 70) our pets will never understand how much we love them...

Thanks everyone. I am just glad he's back. I am now making extra sure that the gate actually latches when I go in and out. I was so :pissed: at myself for making that mistake.

The Mer's came by on their way home from the beach for a visit. They took me home with them and fed me dinner for the second night in a row. Merman was so sweet to play with Guinness for about 30 minutes, while Mermy and I chatted and she tried to catch up on SoWal. So all in all the day ended well. :clap_1:
