Dogs Banned From the Beach??

Did I understand correctly that the Walton County commissioners past an ordinance today banning dogs from the beach completely??

No, they approved revisions to the Beach Activities Ordinance, which includes the "dog on the beach" permit program for county property owners and full-time residents. There had been a proposal to extend that permit program to people who are not county property owners or full-time residents, including tourists. They opted not to do that when they approved the revisions to the ordinance. The permit program still stands for property owners and full-time residents to get permits to take their dogs on the beach according to conditions in the ordinance, which include specific hours the dogs are allowed to be on the beach and a requirement to clean up waste.

Don't forget to keep Fido on a leash.

Yes, thanks, I was thinking I should have added that.
