I wonder how smooth that would go in a real emergency?

yes, it was a staged drill. How much more orderly can you get than a bunch numbered, hyperactive Germans.

I was thinking that 1 minute + for evac was probably not very fast. Plus most planes don't crash in the upright position with all of the passengers still in their seats, not panicked. For a real test, they should seatbelt everyone into their seats, turn the plane on its side, turn out the lights in the plane and in the hanger, have one of the slides not inflate, and have a couple of dummy bodies on the floor in the path to the exits, etc.

In America, besides the fist fights to see who is out the door first, you probably have walrus-sized passengers wedged in the aisles kicking and flailing.

Not one person seemed interested in carryon baggage. That'll slow 'em down.
I'd get off in a big hurry too if someone kept yelling at me like that.

That's nuthin'. I've seen a hotel full of Germans evac to the dining room in under 30 seconds as soon as the first pan hit the buffet line.

No soup for you!
