Just found out I have them and feel like, well not so good. What are Sowallers best suggestions? I am on an anti-viral and prednisone. Really tired and the pain stinks!

God luv ya. Sunkist had them about a month ago. I think her case was pretty mild compared to my Director of Nurses who's currently suffering with them. I don't have any advice--she's probably on the same meds. Valtrex and Lyrica. I'll be thinking of you and hope you feel better soon.

So sorry. I've had 'em before too and It's not much fun. The meds will help, but it will hurt for a good while after the blisters are gone.

I had them a couple years ago, and if I even have a nerve twinge in that area I freak out and run look in the mirror. Bad stuff, if you haven't had them I would get the shot, it's about $300. but worth every penny if it will prevent shingles.

Never had them, knock on wood, but my understanding is that soaking in water and the lightest bed sheets you can find are the best route.

Gabapentin is a must to help with the neuralgia and prevent postherpatic pain, which can last a long time!

Thanks for the suggestions. I am so tired and wish I could sleep for days. The pain stinks, but know it could be so much worse. Glad it is not on my face or around my eyes!I would be totally crazed then!

Yes and it is no fun and afterwards the pain returned. As stated by the others, anti viral and take all of it. Calamine on the blisters and Gabapentin for the pain, but this will literally put you to sleep. I could not take it and function.
Also they gave me Elavil.

My sympathy. I spent a Thanksgiving in the hospital with shingles. Thought I had broken a rib or something the pain was so severe. Get treated b/c I know of people who have had vision damage due to shingles.
