Face Off Report!

Since the database isn't updating the 'face off" report, I thought I'd start a new thread for those that have been asking for a report, so here it is.

Well I did it guys. No general anesthesia, which really wasn't the bad part. They gave me a valium and injected lidocaine w/epinephrine all around the parts of my face they were doing.

Did the lower lift first which consisted of lipo under neck first. Then did jowl lipo. Then started cutting around my ears and yanking skin. Really couldn't tell when he was cutting but the yanking was unmistakable, kinda like when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. Not painful just could hear yanking from inside and pressure. I remember lying there and thinking what in the hell am I doing? I laughed several times and the doctor asked me if I was OK. I was laughing because I've done some really wild things - been on the 2nd highest peak of the Alps, been gliding, been on the top of a volcano - but this was the strangest thing I've ever done. The most discomfort during the procedure was some pricks when he injected the lido/epi and the cauterizing made a few muscle twitches. The eyes were clearly the scariest and still are.

OK, so now I look like someone beat the crap out of me. Sent photo to a couple of you. The ones that have them, give me your advise on whether I should post or maybe share privately to those who want to see. I really look like crap.

My eyes are really bruised, whole face swollen. Eyes were swollen shut but now open. Can't chew cause my neck and face are pulled so tight but doesn't seem distorted or anything - just swollen. My friend that had it done is in the same shape. We're in the same house and we've both been sleeping so much that maybe have seen each other 15 minutes each day. She didn't bruise at all but she only had upper lids. I had both and seems like lower lids caused all the bruising. Tomorrow we take off the head wraps so will have a better feel.

Been knocked out on pain meds since yesterday morning and am now just getting enough relief where i can get by with one Vicodan and stay awake for more time. My phones have been forwarded since I wasn't able to talk. Will probably take phone again tomorrow if I can. Thanks Audi and Allifunn, Got your messages. You're all so wonderful and I'm so happy to know such great people.

Kurt, that's EXACTLY what it feels like!

Ok, what else do you want to know. Happy to send before and after photos to those interested. Just not sure whether to do via email or openly. Maybe I'll post them if SJ posts his :floor: . Ooh don't make me laugh it hurts :(

Thanks for the support guys. Sometimes it's 2 vicodans, The only good thing about the experience so far :floor: but I'm sure it will get better. My mom said she's noticed a difference already but I just see a balloon face. Tomorrow evening the bandages come off and I would think I should notice some difference. :idontno: We'll see, just another experience. Somehow I wish I had picked jumping from a plane  .

OK, took the bandages off this morning 😱 , My face is a balloon for sure! Imasunbum, the jury is still out on whether it's worth it or not. Basically, if it's a noticable difference, then it will be worth the few days of pain. The weirdest thing is the surgery itself. Wasn't painful, just weird being awake and knowing what the Dr is doing to your face. He said some people actually want a mirror to watch the procedure. Not me! Just shut up and do it! And he did.

OK, got the nerve to post one pic of Sunshine and Gizmo nursing me back to health. I have other closeups that I'm too embarrassed to post publicly so Ms Kitty, and Imasunbum, please send me your email addresses and I'll be happy to send the nasty photos :floor: as well as before and afters. Haven't been able to attach them on the Sowal emails. OK, Drumroll !!!!!!!!!!!

Just pretend you got hit in the nose with a basketball. You would have 2 black eyes as well. Actually, you don't look bad, but how do you feel? I don't know if I could be awake, that's brave. I'm such a wuss, I would probably throw up, then pass out. Take care and keep us posted.

Yup, Cork is definitely amazing! Do I think you should show the close-up photo of after the surgery? I saw the photo and it looks like a close-up of the one you already posted here, so my vote is not to post it and leave it up to our imaginations. Your descriptions are great. I can't wait to see you in person and hear the whole story. And I hope you start feeling normal again very soon -- definitely by the time I get there later this month. We'll have a toast!

Recovery is going slower than I had expected. I was thinking that I'd be looking pretty good by the weekend but I'm afraid that I still look like a truck has run over me 😱 . Don't know how long this is going to take so kind of bummed but have been told it's normal during this period - when you've spent a fortune, look worse than ever and feel like crap.

This wasn't the string procedure. Decided against that because had heard that you can sometimes see the string lines in the cheeks 😱 . This was a cut along the ears and muscle pulled from the ears. They can use local because they don't pull up the whole face and tighten all of the muscles. Also had lipo under the neck and jowls. Eyes are the same as a regular lid lift and under eye. Basically this was much like a regular lift just from the perimeter and only the bottom part of the face, not the forehead so they could do it with local anesthesia and the scarring is significantly less. The recovery apparently isn't. The string thing, you can go back to work in 2 days but after doing the research, I really didn't want the foreign strings under the skin, especially if you might see them.

Thanks for your support guys and will send the photos to those that have emailed. Just kinda in and out so bear with me. Love you guys
