Do you like your feet? Does it gross you out to look at other people's feet? Oooooh! Toenails!! It scares the heck out of me to look at old people's toenails.

I have decent feet with long toes that have come in handy for picking up shells on the beach!! I have crooked pinky toes from running into things and bike wrecks and the many resulting breaks. I like to keep my toenails painted year round since anytime it's remotely warm-or just not freezing I'll be rocking flip flops!!

I have issues with old people's toenails when they look like Fritos-OMG gross!!!

I am not a fan of a french polish on toes - too fussy IMO and it takes special toes to pull it off.

If you are a girl wearing dressy sandals you should have polish on.

The older I get, the grosser my feet get. I really need a pedicure every week, but it's too expensive and takes too long.

My polish colors are the OPI off-white colors (like "Get Me to the Taj On Time") or orange when I'm really feeling the Gator spirit (like "Orange You Glad It's Summer"). I love Hard Candy Pulp, but they don't make that any more.

My sister is a close to being a saint in my book because she actually gave Mom a pedicure. I can't even stand to look at Mom's toenails.

its funny how tastes change with age. I used to have polish on my toes 365/24/7. no going out of the house without polish on toes. EVER. I felt the same about mascara.

now I could care less about either. I will do mascara, and a pedicure when there is really good reason for them - like a special event. I do love a pedicure and will treat myself now and then. I do believe in neat looking nails on hands and feet - but polish is highly overrated, imo. its not healthy in the longterm, and it looks like sheet after the first week. I can easily maintain unpainted nails, but the painted nails are just too much hassle.

my best girlfriend in HS used to get on me constantly about my nail polish being half chipped off. I did not even care. (she has owned a nail business for many years since then)... now? i don't like polish on my fingernails at all!

one thing we haven't discussed here - the fake acrylic nails. omc. I have never wanted them. I have many girlfriends who loved them in the past (but most don't have them now). I think these are awful - UNLESS you have really bad nails - they can be a great help in some cases - as long as they are made to look natural.

I hear ya, Toots. Did you know that chipped nail polish is supposed to be "in"? Saw it in a fashion magazine and on The Today Show. Personally I think it looks like heck.

I have acrylic nails because as soon as my natural nails grow out enough to have any length beyond the quick, they break off. Always been that way. Bummer.

OK, everybody back up. In reference to FTLOC...

Is that cod the fish, or the other meaning of the word "cod" (at least in Walton County)? As in, when a fella goes to lift something heavy, you are supposed to tell him, "be careful, don't pop a cod!"

Does anyone else find it funny that we color and paint dead tissue...our nails and hair? :rolling:

I'm not too worried about the dead tissue, I'm too busy trying to revive the useless and unused tissue

My feet have taken a beating lately. Gee, wonder if it's cause I wear flip flops constantly? It started with the fire ants, then blisters on each little toe from a pair of shoes I wear pretty regularly...wtf? Then, it was a mosquito bite, then another blister, then yesterday, I dropped two heavy shelves from a bookcase right on top of my left foot. I'm off to buy boots now!!

I wasn't saying you need polish all the time - just that when you are wearing dressy sandals your toes should be dressy too. Unpainted unkempt toenails at a dressy occassion in strappy sandals are horrid and defeat the purpose of all the makeup, nice clothes, hairdo etc.

I rarely wear fingernail polish except for big events - toes will last for weeks w/ minimal touch-ups, but I typically ruin a manicure in less than an hour.

:floor:well, I'm no expert on the subject as I did not invent the phrase. but I go with the second meaning you listed. of course.

totally agree with unkempt toenails - in any sandals. yucky. but in fancy sandals, even worse.

This thread is useless without pictures. These should make even the raunchiest toes on sowal feel better.

There is a special place in heaven for podiatrists. Thank you SWGB for showing us why. (and I hope this person sleeps with shoes on or in a twin bed, for the safety of all involved!)

Bye-bye, acrylic nails. :wave:I start back taking violin lessons tomorrow. My new "boss" just joined the church, and his wike is a professional violinist. I don't want to sit up front and play and cause her to cringe.

The instructor won't allow any fingernails beyond the quick on the left hand. And it would look weird to have long nails on the bowing hand.

Big D starts lessons, too, but he doesn't wear long acrylic nails.;-)

Hey, SWGB, I'm with Mermy. I think I'll wait a while for breakfast.

I once dated a man who was obsessed with feet. We went to an engagement party where I was introduced to the entire family. I quickly realized all five of his older brothers were obsessed with feet as well. How weird to have a whole group of men staring at your feet?! Its not like you can suck your toes in to make them look skinnier. I tried to "pose" them so they'd look as cute as possible, lest I be ousted from the party.

Well I passed the foot test, but he didn't pass my smart test. Turns out he was dumber than a boot. ;-)
