Today was my first time seeing flying fish. My understanding is that they typically live out in the open sea, rather than coming near shore. This morning, I saw two different Flying Fish and they were rather cool. At first, I thought they looked like a few leaves of Kelp or some plant, then it hit me, flying fish! One did jump out of the water a bit and flap it's front "wings" but not for long. From the little I read, they can fly for distances well beyond the length of a football field. I tried taking some underwater photos of the fish but I couldn't get close enough to get a shot. Below is a photo of what they look like.

I have seen flying fish travel airborn that far. They will hit the waves with the tips of their tails(gaining propultion) while using the wind and their fins/"wings" to sail good distances.. Pretty amazing little guys !!! Seen thousands:shock: and thousands of em actually...
