Starting a local Athiest/Agnostic/Freethinkers group.

We live in the dawn of an age where we can voice our thoughts without accusations of being a heretic or witch. It is our duty learn from eachother and practice fluid intelligence.

Lets organize, enjoy some conversation, and solve the worlds problems over some beer.

Whoever is interested let me know.

Ciao,
Matt

Those three groups seem to be very different from each other. One believes that God doesn't exist and one believes that God does exist, but doesn't know exactly how to define God. Those two are contradictory in nature. I guess Freethinker could be either of those two, as well as Christian, Jew, Buddhist, etc.

Yes, really. If one believes in God, and one does not believe in God, you have a contradiction. Also, Freethinking has origins in Buddhism and Islam, and the word alone should apply to one who isn't influenced by groups, so yes, that does seem weird that one would have a group of freethinkers. Reminds me of the college kids who wanted to be different, like all the other different people.

I'm simply trying to understand what type of group you are looking to form. Very curious. I think there are many people who don't "buy into religion," so you may have some interest, but that group sounds to broad to be a group. Help me understand.

Agnosticism means skepticism about God's existence. In no way should it be construed as outright belief. All of these terms have multiple definitions, but your idea of agnosticism is way, way off. The group is obviously geared towards people who are either non-believers or extremely skeptical. Furthermore the term atheist/agnostic/freethinker is standard terminology and there are many interested parties who will require no further clarification, I guarantee it.
