OK, so if everybody was really itching to go to a local government meeting tonight, the Walton County district budget workshop starts at 5 pm at the Walton High School auditorium.

Also, the Planning Commission EAR meeting that was set for next week (March 18) has been cancelled. Next PC meeting is March 31, though at this point I'm not at all clear what elements will be discussed.
There is a workshop on the Coastal Conservation Zone Element of the proposed Ear based amendments, Monday March 16, 5 p.m. at the South Walton Annex. As of March 12, acc. to Planning Director Blackshear, this meeting was still a go.

It doesn't appear that the county's web person has gotten the Coastal Conservation Zone draft up onto the county website yet, but anyone with an interest can ask for it to be e-mailed (call the Planning Department -- 267.1955), or you can go to the Planning Department and request a hard copy. There might be a charge for the copies, I'm not sure.
This element has to do with wetland buffers among other things. I am very interested in this element but won't be able to attend due to longstanding plans that can't be changed.
