Florida governor would lose do-over election, poll says - Washington Times
The poll shows 32 percent of Sunshine State voters approve of Mr. Scott's job performance, while his disapproval rating is 55 percent. Voters of his own party approve of the way he is handling his job by a 57-27 margin, but his disapproval rating among Democrats stands at 81 percent ? up from 60 percent three months ago.

Mr. Scott?s net -23 percentage-pont approval margin makes him the least popular of the 35 currently serving governors PPP has polled.

no poll shows that yet...and the two issues are totally unrelated.

I dug into that poll a little because I wasn't sure about it. But the numbers of those polled seem to match political party affiliation for the state, so it seems legit. I think a lot of folk really like the initiatives he's pushing, he just needs to be better at communication. Growing pains I suppose. If he doesn't get that worked out though he'll be a one termer for sure.

who likes the initiatives he's pushing? the reports don't reflect that at all. Even the Republican members of the legislature are upset; in fact, in some situations, they are more upset because they see more of what is going on behind the scenes.

I think people would really like to see government work more efficiently; they would like jobs to be created; fraud to be handled in a just manner; and some fairness in the way things are paid for;

they want results, but not at the expense of fellow citizens' abilities to earn a decent living. I am not sure anyone really wants public school teachers and firemen, and the elderly to bear the brunt of the sacrifice that it will take to get our budget in order.

Many may like what he said he would do; but, almost no one likes the way he is going about it.

It is true, though, he needs to improve his communication...would help if he (in his own words the other day at a meeting with state employees) "read this before I came in here to speak to you."

That was my point. I also don't think legislators are disapproving generally. That seems like something the democrats have manufactured. He may have agitated a few who were looking for hand outs and big spending, which is fine with me. ;-)

Um, no - he is pissing a LOT of people off (across all parties) with how he is doing things.

He's not making smaller government from what I can see, he's just rearranging it and giving money to different people...SOS, different name.

I would call it "streamlining the process so that corporations and certain interest groups can more easily bend over the average citizen/taxpayer and the environment."

Oh the problems when we elect a non-politician. He does not know how to put the polish and glow on what he says, he does not know to stay away from our pain points. He just knows things need fixin' and he is trying to do it. We want someone like him deep down inside, but would settle for someone like Haridopolous whose views and positions change with the political wind.

Seems like only government workers can get the time off from work to go and try to protect their ox from being gored. The rest of us have to work for a living and just throw stuff at the television at night.

Yeah its called vacation or having my shift covered. Tallahassee is wonderful this time of year. Can't wait to return next year with a little more sanity in these hallowed halls because there is very little this year.

I don't have to, I just read the news. You know what I see, I see a governor who is working to finally solve all these tough problems (robert's "pain points") that no past governor has had the balls to take on. I see our education system getting reformed, I see our pension system getting reformed, I see Citizens Property getting reformed, I see Medicaid getting reformed, I see our prison system getting reformed, I see our land use laws getting reformed, and I see a budget on the drawing board that slashes 5 billion dollars *we don't have* even though we jacked up taxes two years ago. I see federal boondoggles being turned down too.

Yeah, some might not like these changes. I'm sure the people who own 500K+ homes on the coast insured by Citizens will be pissed when their policy gets dropped. I'm sure teachers who suck at their job will be bummed when they become unemployed. I'm sure the democrats will scream bloody murder when the new budget is passed. I'm sure the unions will freak when we lay off a bunch of state workers, and when we stop collecting their dues for them. I'm sure Medicaid patients will complain when they get switched to managed care. Such is life, when you depend on government for services change is part of the deal you sign on to. We can not sit around and just "keep things the way they are".

Now, truth is, I don't think all of this change will be perfect (how could it be?), but it's a major major leap in the right direction. We are moving forward vs. sitting idle. This state is in pretty good shape but we do have some pretty serious or potentially series issues that have not been dealt with for years. I see those problems getting addressed for the first time. I don't remember this kind of activity from the florida legislature, ever!

I think it is great that Scott is trying to fix things and doesn't mind pissing off the establishment in doing so.

The problem is that in most cases his "fixes" are worse.

He presents some good ideas, then completely screws them up.

I know nothing appears to be sacred. Can you believe giving Darden Group their own 5 million dollar tax credit and then cutting all the money from Cancer research? Sometimes I wonder about those guys.

He presents them but the legislature has to work out the details and that appears to be where the train leaves the rails.
